if apple ever wanted to rebrand the apple logo, this would be a great start.

If a friendship lasts longer than 7 years, psychologists say it will last a lifetime. Happy Birthday Mac 

Let me guess... perhaps finally reach 4 GB of RAM on the iPhone/iPad?

I think eventually, (10-20 years) RAM and flash storage will become the same thing. Think about it. It's only a matter of time.

Happy birthday to the Macintosh!

My first Mac was a Macintosh Plus. I am currently having an nMP on order.

Not impressed

Oh dear, shows how biased the Apple guys are, cannot believe how many people are praising it. This ad is nothing like as inspirational, honest or creative at prior ads from Apple. It appears to feature one or two hipsters and famous people, all doing things that we all know can be done on a PC. It would have been far better to focus on the ground breaking technical innovations and how they each lead to us in day to day life achieving more, from MagSafe on MacBooks to the clever swivel display on the first LCD iMac that provided a very ergonomic working environment that no Windows PC has ever offered.

Whole ad just didn't do it for me, sorry! Felt contrived.

This is the first computer I used that really inspired me and is the reason I do what I do today. Happy 30th Birthday, Macintosh!

Happy birthday Mac! This little guy has definitely had a big impact on my career in design.

I remember when it first came out and I wanted one so bad, but I was just out of high school and couldn't afford one yet :(

Now I can :)

Oh, lets for one day put the swords down and wish the Macintosh a happy 30 years!

Whether you’re an Apple lover or hater, gloater or loather, you have to admit it made a massive impact upon the way we all interact with computers and technology on a whole.

Regardless of who was first or whatever, the Mac helped pave the way for the personal technology of today, whichever company(s) you buy your devices from.

Seeing jowie's pictures, I now regret very much that I did not take a picture with my Macintosh Plus.

Fortunately I still have my PowerBook 140. I shall find time and take a picture with my PowerBook 140.

Don't worry, we forgive you! :p

It's also exactly 20 years since Underworld's Dubnobasswithmyheadman was released. Getting all nostalgic blasting that on my Mac.

Let's see if I can remember it all...

IIcx at work
IIvi at home
Quadra 800 at work
PowerMac 8100/80 at work
Quadra 6400 at home
Powermac G3 at work
Mac Mini at home
Powermac G4 at work
8-Core Cheesegrater Mac Pro for both.

...and a new MacPro in a bit, once I've decided on a spec.

Jobs would probably never have done this. He was very against reminiscing on the past. But I'm glad Cook and co have done it.

RAM is a lot faster than flash storage. I guess you're talking about far future. ;-)

Well, I know.

But looking back, no one could have envisioned just how fast technology changes.

In 2001, I bought a computer with 128MB Ram, upgraded to 512MB which maxed the system. I bought a 32MB graphics card.

Remember, this was just less than 13 years ago. Had you told me back then that we'd have laptops with 16GB of RAM, 1 TB of 1GB/s PCIe-based SSDs, Retina Displays, 12-hour battery life......I would have thought you're crazy.

Now if we extrapolate this to the future, to the next 13 years, we'd get results that I can't truly fathom. However, I would have said the same thing 13 years ago.

People always said that Moore's Law is eventually going to fail, and it will. But when that actually happens is anyone's guess.

Exciting times ahead, indeed.

Yes, thankfully Apple didn't always do what Jobs wanted. Where would Apple be today if the iPod and iTunes had never been released for Windows PCs.
