It's nice for the charity but he should actually pay his users to have lunch with him. Might get some inspiration in the old fart.

1% of $240 Billion would seem substantial to me (= half of all European 3rd world aid combined)
(using pre-tax numbers here as Apple would be seek to deduct or avoid tax anyway)
Keep in mind that Apple PR is a good news factory, so any amount to be considered impressive would probably proudly be published. The fact that they don't reveal it, says a lot.
To be frank, Cook personally did make several claims of amounts that he would donate if he dies.
Apple's Tim Cook to donate his fortune to charity - Mar. 27, 2015

No, it only says Apple has chosen to not reveal their charitable contributions. The same as with many other companies and individuals.

It's funny how we all just hand over our responsibilities together with our money, right? I spend all my money on SUVs, iPhones and ribeye steaks. Now it's up to the big greedy companies to save the world, while I sit back in my reclaimed armchair.

The fact that they don't reveal that amount, leaving a $150k charity lunch as a sign of their beneficiary intentions, which they apparently find notable/respectable, says something to me.
Something funny.

Nothing funny about that at all. There are a lot people in the San Francisco Bay Area with money who would love to see the new Apple Park and have a chance to chat with Cook. Proceeds will go to the Robert F Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. It's a worthy cause that promotes social justice and human rights.

You may find that "funny" in that it helps you support some kind of personal ulterior Apple narrative. For me it's a hat-tip to Apple and Mr. Cook, who have been doing this for five years. It's a real shame you are not able to find happiness in what Cook and Apple are doing with this fund raiser, and instead use it as just another opportunity to rag on Apple/Cook with unsupported claims.

Whaha, you make it even more funny !!
Angela Ahrendts earned that amount while we had this conversation...
Let her lunch with Tim to get some new product designs out of his pipeline and donate a fraction of her expenses to all known Kennedy Foundations.
These "fundraisers" are laughable with their lunatic idea's.
Mere mortals paying to finance the supposed gratitude of their falsely idolized supercapitalist bosses.
Gee man, it's insane.
Next we customers could prepare to subsidize their furnaces to help them burn their money - they're so loaded that they hardly know how to spend it in their lifetime ;)

I think they should just turn Apple Park into a snotty restaurant and sell over-priced lunches to everyone. It's the only interesting thing they've got these days.

Ask him, why his company spends the lowest rate on charity, %-wise.
I have no time to lunch with the greatest penny-pincher in the world

BTW More sincere, and NOT always about money:

But more than Jobs at any rate. Of course when you are that rich the percentage will always be low to make a good internet taking point.
