One could say exactly the same thing about the Apple-hate comments. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, so tiresome. Beyond boring. Zero creativity. Absolutely predictable. Gratification of a circular variety, if you will.

My favorite posts are from Baymowe. Baymowe is the epitome of predictability. You read a Baymowe post, and you know it's a response to something related to financials. Arguably, I sometimes think it's a ill-programmed bot to attract Apple flamers and Apple lovers alike.

Would love a a separate thread where people could share tips on how to achieve this. My primary concern about privacy is social network algorithms can be created to manipulate users into seeing or not seeing, doing or not doing.

Tip to you is to avoid the internet all together.

If you don't use social networks, I still know what you do and who you are when you're on my (web)app. There are many resources out there to help triangulate things about you in the reverse direction.

Slightly agree here. He was radical and pushed for Hillary. But I think he is growing a liking to Trump.
Tim is growing a liking to Trump?

No way in H311. Tim doesn’t want to be caught with his pants down, so he talks to Trump. Apple can be completely destroyed by one signature if Trump doesn’t make a deal with China. Apple makes almost nothing outside of China. Apple would be over with if Trump were to put a serious tariff on Chinese made goods. Apple is a lot more vulnerable in this respect than Microsoft, Amazon, or Google. The biggest business risks for Apple are Trump and Bernie.

Tim, of course, would rather kiss up to Trump than do anything of essence to bring production back to the US. This may work for a while, but one morning Trump will wake up in a lousy mood and impose sanctions on China. Even though Tim will have had years of advance notice, Apple will be completely unprepared because the CEO just really doesn’t care about Americans. He will retire with a billion dollars in the bank and will let Apple burn.

Meh. Never says anything new. You can practically set up a bingo sheet with:

- Our values
- We care a lot about our products
- Apple is doing great
- Great products in the pipeline (perpetually)
- Etc.
Wait a sec! Is it possible... Apple values don't change between interviews?

Maybe the interviewers should stop asking the same old questions if they don't want the same old answers.

Tim Cook is doing an excellent job at Apple and embodies leadership.

Hate on.

When is Tim Cook going to discuss the butterfly keyboards? When is he going to address any of the problems that have occurred on his watch?

Leaders LEAD, where the hell is this guy going? Any direction chasing money, but wasting it along the way. $3billion for Beats cause they wrongly thought they were going to be a streaming music threat. Just look at Tidal to see they wasted money on that. Yet they let ARM go to SoftBank & other companies with vital patents be swallowed by competitors. They pour millions into getting LG, Japan Display etc to make OLED screens when they can't even sell all the phones with screens just made by Samsung. While OLED is getting superseded by MLED anyway. Setting up manufacturing in India is stupid when China is a more lucrative market they've yet to penetrate. Shouldn't China already be cracked if Tim's doing an "excellent job".

The places Apple is going to, others already went. Leader bean Tim is following them as Apple tries to be the next Spotify, next Netflix, next Steam, next smart speaker, next credit card. Meanwhile we're still waiting for the next Mac Pro.

Thank you, next.

It’s a nice straw-man, but not true. A12 Bionic with neural engine, smart hdr, dynamic video etc, AirPods, Apple Watch. If you believe Apple has been without innovation, you should check out their website.
Also we know while jobs was ceo, Apple was never sued, nor even once.
I like Tim and he is doing a great job and it shows in the financials. YMMV.

Not true...except for all the true parts. Never did I say Cook was sued. Apple under his leadership was. Keep drinking that Cook-Aid.

it makes my case when I, and so many others, dont have to be creative about the complaints against this company. The only reason cook hasn't been axed is because the shareholders are happy with all their money. Yes, thats a success of a company, but the lack of innovation and predictability....shameful.

Yours was the first comment and I’m sure that a significant number of people will release their hate, so before I read on I want to give my 2 cents:

Tim Cook is not another Steve Jobs. NO ONE will be another Steve Jobs. Quit trying to find one. Tim Cook has made some decisions I agree with, a lot that I don’t, but overall and for Apple as a business he has been successful. Steve Jobs was pushed out of Apple in the early 90’s. At one time the owner of Dell computers, when asked what Apple could do for people who invested in Apple replied ‘give them their money back’.

Steve Jobs also had his failures and failings as CEO. But he did end his career on a high note as far as being a corporate leader. But his end also showed poor medical judgment and beliefs. No one is perfect.

No, you makes my case. Tim Cook should be fired/Apple can’t innovate anymore/Apple should be ashamed of themselves for _______ (fill in the blank). Do realize that a few dozen haters continually parroting the same list of talking points doesn’t make them true. Those complaints are no more valid today than they were 6-8 years ago.

You guys really need some new material. Boring and utterly predictable. Shameful waste of a life, spending hours upon hours hating/complaining about a company, its employees, its products and its customers.

Why not do something constructive? Aren’t you passionate about anything? Isn’t there some better use of your limited time on this earth? You have given Apple tremendous power over your life. That is very sad.

(Not directed specifically to you, blacktape242, it applies equally to anyone who spends life energy on negativity, complaints and hate—whether on Apple or anything else.)

Is it hate to expect a keyboard on a $2000+ laptop to work properly?!? Is it hate to expect 'PRO' computers to be upgradable?!? Is it hate to expect to pay only a slight upmarket cost for memory upgrades instead of paying double or triple retail for no reason whatsoever and NOT being able to upgrade on the consumer end?

Tim Cook is doing a horrible job and has sacrificed for long term existence for short term gains.

I’ve never loved Tim Cook, but he is one hell of a leader. I genuinely believe that Apple is the least corrupt company out there - I will continue giving them my money and support.

Apple PR will give interviewers a list of topics they can and cannot touch. So by default, it is Apple pushing this nonsense down our throats repeatedly. If interviewers don't play ball, they don't get access to Tim nor anyone else from Apple.

Show me data it doesn't. Again, Apple sold 18M Macs last year. Stop acting like you have failure rate data and are so sure there is a widespread problem.

Take your product to Apple and they'll fix it.

Tim Cook has created $700B in shareholder value since taking over, is selling 3X as many iPhones, has a $50B services business, and created the wearables category growing at 50%. He's been incredible.

Hate on.

Apple COULD assemble phones in America IF they CHOOSE too. Yes, I concur that their logistical issues....Trump hasn't tariffed SMARTPHONES and LAPTOPS but he has low end consumer goods and commodities!

I don't expect any corporation to solve societies problems. It's time for all corporations and billionaires to chip in versus lobbying for more preferential treatment. Some corporations and billionaires are better/worse than others. They ALL are RENT SEEKING especially when it comes to taxes!

And YES -- I am a well off American consumer and I do use a lot of carbon! I ADMIT IT. I try to the best I can. I don't preach about how virtuous I am because I can afford to purchase green energy credits. I just wish instead of preaching more about CARBON, folks would CUT BACK -- not drive SUVs, cruise around in motor yachts/private jets, live in climate controlled mansions (heated and/or AC 24/7), etc.

If all the climate advocate wind bags lead by example instead of just preaching, I'd give them a lot more credit. And I do think carbon induced global warming is REAL but every day working stiffs can't afford super expensive energy unlike wealthy carbon piggy blowhards!
Again, go read about why it would be impossible to build iPhones in America.

You have no idea on the scale of the undertaking. None.

So you admit Apple is doing a lot more for the environment than you. Got it.

Um, he is leading. He's not getting caught up in internet wars on butterfly keyboards that are a non issue?

Spoiler alert: He knows the failure rates of all his products and he's not concerned, so he's focused on growing services at 20%, wearables at 40%, and bringing in $166B in iPhone revenue in a year.

Yet to penetrate China? They just wrapped up a year with $52B in revenue in China. To put that in perspective, that is as much revenue than NFLX, TSLA, and Visa...combined. It's as much revenue as the entire Walt Disney Company.

Tell me more about not penetrating the Chinese market.

Not a Music threat? Really? Wall Street Journal: "Apple Music has more paying subscribers in the United States than Spotify."

You're focused on the Mac Pro...Tim Cook is focused on Apple. The Mac Pro is a tiny business for Apple. You'll get one, but it's not the priority.

Leaders understand business. You don't. That's why he is where he is and you are where you are.

Apple's keyboard failure is a tiny percentage. So tiny, it basically doesn't exist. It's a rounding error. It's a figment of one's imagination. I could have sworn I had a sticky keyboard problem on my 2018 MacBook Air, but now I'm sure I'm simply paranoid. Either I don't have a 2018 MacBook Air, or if I do, it doesn't have a problem. Or, perhaps, I don't even exist, and all of this is just someone's dream. One thing I know for sure (of course, if I even exist) is that Apple is flawless and magical. Pure perfection.

This all sounds a little conspiracy theroristish.

Show me the line in the 10K for "Social issues spending."

You not seeing the innovation doesn't mean it's not there.
On the other hand, many people here think that if they don't have keyboard problems, those problems don't exist. How am I worse than they?

I appreciate his stance on privacy - however I miss Apple's opinions on technology and design - Steve's open letters on things like the death of Flash, his push to change the entire industry. The closest thing Apple has come to this of late is by removing the headphone jack. Controversial, but it drives technology to be better. I miss Apple doing this. Not the PR things. Every time Tim gets up to speak, he says the same things.

If they do a Q&A can someone who is attending this please have the balls to ask him interesting questions that we actually want to know the answers to. No more China, politics and privacy talk please and thanks.
Business news is usually softball. It is possible they only ask questions he had approved. As opposed to enterprise reporting or “shoe leather” reporting.

I suspect it's impossible for the leader of a large corporation not to be sanctimonious when that corporation is guilty of so many denials and power abuses. Cook should turn his attention inhouse and correct the behaviors that contradict Apple's proclaimed character. Not one American is asking Apple to be an alt-government or party.

In order to know if Apple is representing his employees values does he take surveys or assume he speaks for everyone.

Good for Apple for not donating to political campaigns. Does Apple donate to political organizations who then donate to politicians?

wearables category growing at 50%. He's been incredible.

The category only includes one product and its prior versions. Unless AirPods are considered wearables. Maybe Beddit?

This is from the Time Magazine article:

“cancer experts expressed surprise that Jobs survived as long as he did, continuing to fight his disease. Other pancreatic cancer patients typically aren’t as fortunate. Another high-profile patient, actor Patrick Swayze, managed to live for 20 months after his diagnosis, taking advantage of chemotherapy treatments. But, overall, patients’ median survival is generally only five months.

He didn’t survive as long a patients successfully treated for the uncommon form of pancreatic cancer he had.
