Celebrating the Apple Watch on stage in October as though it had already sold 10 million. Yeah, not impressed.

If you don't like Apple's record when it comes to what they announce vs. what they ship, you REALLY don't want to look at ANY tech other company :p

My bets are that the Apple Watch will ship, AND will do more (not less) than shown in October.

Indeed, COMDEX was a good example of vaporware. CES was the same way until a few years ago.

The artwork that 9to5mac used for this story is definitely more fun than the stock photo here at Macrumors.

I've often wondered who breaks Apple news more often, MR or 9to5. The latter puts time-stamps on their news posts, whereas MR doesn't. Anyone here know?

Rumor has it that he started blubbering uncontrollably when his narcissist hero started in on income redistribution on Tuesday. Then, when he heard about the messiah's proposed capital gains tax increase, he thought about his stock options and was inconsolable.

I assume that you're calling our President the messiah. He's not. It's kind of funny that you think he is.

----------

On Jan. 27 they will announce results of the first quarter of Apple fiscal year 2014/2015, not the first quarter of 2015.

Saying first quarter 2015 for a period including only 2014 dates is misleading...

I think you're tilting at windmills. Companies that start their 2015 FY in October are not likely to change in order to make you feel comfortable. Automakers won't stop selling cars for the following model year in the fall, either.

So he doubled down on his compensation instead of security? ;)

Does seem low compared to what others seem to earn.

MacRumors is the IBM of Apple websites: Slow, unimaginative, lacks humor. Well done, 9to5.

Sad it took this bunch 90 posts to mention Tim's "doubling down" mantra. You sir, win the thread. :D

Compared to other CEOs, Tim Cook is seriously underpaid for running the most valuable corporation in the US/World.

Very well said.

It hasn't been that long to judge Cook as harshly as some members of this forum are. I find the way he's performed so far, especially having to endure the unrelenting comparisons to Steve, very good.

And let's not forget Beats / Apple's Dr Dre got paid $620 million in the same time period.

So, you just admitted to beign here for no good reason at all. Got time to kill?

What do you care why I'm here? I used to love apple until they forced me to put iOS 6 on my was perfect iPhone 4. Now I hate them. If they'd let me downgrade to perefct 5.1.1 maybe I would like them again but that's shot to hell. Even with my saved shsh blobs, it is impossible to downgrade, I've tried everything. Screw Apple. To answer your question, I come on here to find out what kind of crappy things apple is doing with their crappy crAPPLE crap. This is a Mac RUMORS site, not a Mac FAN site. Kapeesh?

Oh, and yes, I DO have time to kill. Thanks for validating that point with me. Now go use your pretty macbook pro and leave me alone. PLEASE.

Neither did Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg. As someone who's been to college, I can honestly say that college is overrated, at least as far as being in a successful career field is concerned. Of course I'm not saying college is useless. For me, what I ended up wanting to do didn't require any college at all. College did help me realize what I didn't want to do and that led to what I did want to do. I think that's the important part of college people fail to grasp. The focus in college should be about learning, figuring things and doing things that interest you rather than getting a piece of paper that says you're qualified for something.

Steve Jobs audited the calligraphy courses because typography interested him. He didn't know what he would do with this knowledge or what it would lead to. I'm sure more than one person probably told him it was a waste of time. As it turns out, his decision to take those classes changed the world more than a decade later.

I love forum members naming those guys "Tim". "Eddy", "Phil", "John" like old kindergarden friends raised in the same neighborhood

Neither did Bill Gates. Or Brad Pitt.

Still, it's an awful lot of money for an EMPLOYEE, and he does not have to take any personal responsibility. If he fails, it'll be the company and the other employees that have to take the fall - it's not like Tim Cook or any other employed manager would have to cover the losses out of their own pockets. It's not necessarily a severe punishment for a millionaire to be out of a job - for employees with a normal salary, it is.

The relation between the normal staff's average salary - read: the people that do the actual work, product design and development - and the salaries of the upper management class is, well, "kaputt", broken.

I sense a sharp pin approaching the Apple bubble.

That shake would be only for the better, I think.

Apple got me over, as they still were underdogs. And at that time Apple was at its highest in terms of innovation, technology and creativity.

Nowadays it is a fat inflexible giant ruling by the TYRANNY OF THIN, instead of cutting edge technology...

No bonus for Eddy Cue? He definitely should earn one for his hard work on Apple's great services. Especially online and cloud services are an amazing experience. Oh wait....
