In the last 2 years I went from a Note 2 to iPhone 5s to a Note 3. Today's announcements really did not impress me. I was actually expecting a resolution higher than 1920x 1080 in the 5.5" version. And super disappointed that 16GB is still an option. So now you're telling me I need to spend $400 on contract for the 64GB iPhone 6 plus!!!! I don't think so. I would rather take my 64GB sd card out of my Note 3 and pay $300 (or less because there are always deals) on a Note 4 which beats out the 6 plus in every category. The Note is even shorter than the 6 plus which is nuts; I would have never guessed that one.
There are going to be some good deals for Android users this fall to move product. I wouldn't be surprised to see BYGO free promo's.

SD cards are really slow compared to Solid State. Also the Note doesn't even come close to a iPhone or iPad Mini, in Quality speed and quality of apps.
Your just spitting out rubbish.

You was probably saying the same thing about bigger screens a few years back. Ease off the apple juice mate. Try water.

Yes, exactly. I hate bigger screens so I ditched my iPhone to go to a Nexus 4 last year! /s

The only reason I switched back from Android is because the app quality is pretty terrible.

LOL, nice try.

The next few months are going to be difficult for jerks- as they are proven wrong over and over and Apple sets new records of sales, profit, marketshare, etc. while the Galaxy Gear fades into the abyss and the rest of Android continues its race to the bottom.

But yeah, grasp at every straw you can.
Your little north american or european markets do not count. Wake up! The biggest (and growing) smartphone market-Asia-sells more Android smartphones than iPhones (AFAIK).

I could afford to upgrade. I still don't like the 6 enough to upgrade, one reason being those garish bands.

Like you won't have a case on it? I'm sure you will say that you won't, but I see very few naked iphones.
I keep both of my iPads naked, but not the iPhone. it just takes too much abuse.

Looks like I'm gonna wait till the price goes down cause its not too wow enough. maybe even wait for the iPhone 6 plus plus or iPhone 6 plus s lol:p

Developed countries should not be compared to developing countries regarding high-end smartphone sales for obvious reasons. Last I saw the Galaxy S5 and other high ends weren't selling well in developing Asian countries either.

He's right.
Even my parents, who never upgrade to the latest iPhone when it comes out, texted me earlier today and said they are seriously thinking about it. They are not hardcore tech users at all and just have a 4S right now and that is even more than enough for them. So they were just going to upgrade to a 5S now with the price drop but after seeing the new phones they are seriously thinking it over now.

Anyone else super thrown off by this weird flower on a black background? I felt like they didn't really use the best image to show how big the display was. Too much negative space.

And Apple is making huge gains (double and triple digit percentage growth) in these markets. Remember they weren't on the major carriers until recently.

I think I was like most people right now when I saw the new design of the iPhone 6 when comparing to previous models. If you think about it, the 6 is a MUCH better design. The antenna bands take getting used to, but they clash WAY WAY less than the glass inserts on the 5s. The 6 flows much better all around, especially being curved like the old models. 5s is not very comfortable to hold without a case being completely rectangular with sharp edges, the 6 lays in hand naturally. Also take into account the fact that you dont have to worry about the rear glass breaking.

The big thing I am glad they ditched are the chrome edges all around the phone. The chrome edges were the first thing to get dinged up, even while in the case when hard particles would press up against it. I always hated that design aspect since the 3G came out. Iphone 6 remind me of a MBP, all aluminum design which is what Apple is known for.

Its hard to convince people but this is by far the best day to day design they've come up with. I do wish they would have slimmed the antenna bands, but its not that big of a problem when the phone is in the case. Same goes for the camera sticking out.

Why? I don't want one. I'll stick with the 5S. I don't want to break my camera.

LOL, you're not going to break your camera. The protruding camera is still has a sapphire cover, and the metal around it will withstand anything that wouldn't break the whole phone.

I'm not a fan of the protruding cam either, but we need to keep things in perspective. Holding an iPhone in your hand, it's not going to protrude very much at all. It looks like a lot in photos because those are macro photos.

I'll admit that I like the design. What I don't like is the size, and unfortunately until I see it in person, it's a deal breaker. 5.5" is definitely out, but I'll have to see the 4.7". I could probably deal with the increased width, but the height will be annoying. The 5 series are already tall enough.

Of course the major deciding factor is that I'm in a contract until January, and I'd have to convince my dad to approve the upgrade.

Apple's design has gone flaccid. I wonder if they lost a lot of graphics artists after Jobs died.

In the case of the flower, without a reference as to the size of the flower, the viewer has no way to judge the size of the negative space. It does at least show the size difference between the 6 and the 6 Plus.

Did anyone catch Ashton Kutcher coming out on stage at the end. He yelled "You Just Got Punked". Thank goodness. I almost fell for Apple's conference today. Can't wait to see what the new phones and watch really look like.

I never load apps on SD cards. I only place documents, movies and music on the card. You don't need fast and expensive storage for that purpose and it works no different then primary storage in terms of speed. And I wasn't telling iUsers to ditch their phones so if you're happy with iOS and the apps so be; Android is not for you and I wasn't trying to convince you. But for me it's a downgrade from a Note 3.
But if I was a dedicated iUser I would go with the iPhone 6 plus because it's the better of the two. I would be more upset that Apple is basically forcing heavy users to get the 64GB option. As a Android user I would not pay that. As a iPhone user I would have a tough time paying it. See the difference?

Apple was beating then just fine at 4", with revenue and profits that exceed every Android vendor on Earth put together. Now, Apple is ready to annihilate the high end of the Android market. By this time next year, the most expensive Android you can get will be $300 and will run an obsolete version of Android on obsolete hardware. There just aren't going to be enough die-hard fandroids to keep the $500 flagship Android phones alive. Most people bought Android for size or price, now it will just be the latter.

Please don't give them that much credit. People do not make informed conscious decisions when buying Android. They only buy it because they don't know any better. That is the truth. Its like picking out tires. Some people just have no idea, so whatever they get is what they get. One kind is good, another kind is terrible, but they just don't know any better.

Actually, no I feel it was a smart choice and the exact opposite. It does a better job of illustrating the space, rather than an edge to edge wallpaper.

Translation: "I don't qualify nor can I afford an upgrade right now so let me mock the new iPhone to make myself feel better about it."

Translation: " I hereby swear to apologise for any feature / aspect of the new iPhone by mocking others as not being financial worthy of the new iPhone .

Tsk tsk.... A little bit elitist there mate.

SD Cards used to be slow, but now you can buy 90 MB/s cards at Best Buy.

An SD card slot makes good functional sense. It enables memory expansion and provides another method for file transfer. There is no good excuse to leave one out. Same with the battery - a swappable battery is more functional, easier to replace, and more environmentally concious.

It's obvious why Apple avoids these two highly functional features.

This shortsighted mindset seems to miss the point that competition is what drives Apple to innovate. Building a larger iPhone was a direct response to larger smartphones. Just like the iPhone 4 blew everything out of the water in response to emerging threats in the newly emerging personal cell phone market.

Before there was competition consumers were begging Apple for basic functionality like MMS and landscape keyboards....that Apple told us we really didn't need. ("Just email your pictures.....")

Competition is best for consumers. Even if you are an Apple fan and a shareholder, you should still want competition around to keep pushing Apple to build better products. With the MS phones still lagging, I'm all for Android continuing to compete with Apple as hard as they can.
Yup competition has been great. However, the phone market is now mature and the competition has nothing further to offer. Feature parity has been achieved. We can now watch Android destroy itself in a race to the bottom while Apple walks away with the $. The PC industry has undergone the same thing.

There will of course be competition and innovation in the future, just not in the phone space.

It's one of the things that couldn't possibly matter less to me.

You'd think that people with even a shred of Apple savvy know they wouldn't let it protrude if it had not tested beyond reasonable capacity to NOT break under any sort of normal use, including modest drops and repeatedly being set on table or thrown in a bag.

It's really weird, isn't it? I mean, how immature would one have to be to simply assume it to be a problem, instead of completely insignificant?
