Whoa there. Hate and intolerance? Now I know you're just trolling.

He may not be trolling. I have found that many of my personal beliefs have been met with intolerance. I personally am not a fan of the gay lifestyle. I do not believe that something is beneficial of right Nu st because that thing is permissible.

I believe that no person should be discriminated against and that we all have the right to choose our own paths. I do not think I should be discriminated against or looked down upon because I do not approve of a certain lifestyle.

I also don't generally hear anyone complain about a lack of tolerance when republicans (I'm an independent) are being demonized in the press or by late night pontificators. I have found that those who preach tolerance do not usually dispense it evenly amongst all people.

Given the price Apple charges for RAM upgrades, it seems that the folks at Apple screw everyone. Goody, we're all bi.

Can we just let Tim get on with developing the next big thing?

I love Tim. I love everyone at Apple. I am iBi.

As Tony Curtis and a cast of hundreds said in Spartacus, I AM TIM COOK.

First and most importantly, don't judge a nation based on the very small, but very vocal, group of bigots and hate mongers. Remember too that the media has an interest in making things look dramatic and sweeping, while in fact most Americans (like most other people in the world) belong to the silent, moderate majority.

Second, America, unlike MOST other places in the world, has dramatically diverse people, culture, religions, ideals, ethics and so on. Whenever this happens it causes social division and issues, even though that may not speak well of us it is no different than the racism/difficulties Muslims and the like see in England, France, Netherlands etc (or Hindus in Pakistan, Muslims in India, Christians in Iran/Egypt, whatever). It's really easy to give everyone the same status and opportunities when you are all 99% alike.

Of course, maybe America is at fault for not doing a very good job at trying, but I think overall our record and desirability as a home address is still pretty good.

I'm not judging, it's only my modest point of view based on distant and isolated but quite common and bizarre comments.

But seriously, I'm from Spain, which is and has been the hardest catholic reserve of Europe, so the most catholic and christian of the old metropolis, and even so you look much much more ultra-christian as society than any other here. I mean, like we say here, "you are more pope-ish than the pope"

There's nothing wrong with "labels" if its true, only the way one perceives or reacts to that label.

Wrong - words have power. I refuse to accept your power over me. If you insist on calling me names, I will label you Oppressor.

Steve would never allow this

but seriously good for him although i don't think people are obligated to come out publicly anymore, in my opinion it emphasizes a conception that shouldn't exist in our culture in the first place, like an indirect apology for being different, Tim or any public figure shouldn't feel like they owe the world an explanation for being the way they are.

Disagree with Steve not allowing this. But agree with the rest.

Exactly, religion exists to fill the gaps of human knowledge at any given time. The term god is a simple way for people to explain what is currently unexplainable. Unfortunately, when we can finally explain something scientifically, a good portion of the current generation will fight it. Fortunately, the next generation is more accepting of this new truth and every generation after that until eventually everyone accepts it as the fact it is. It's called progress.

Unfortunately, there will always be something we are unable to explain and therefore there will always be religion :(

God is as real as our existence. The Bible explains the unexplainable;)

Still amazes me how when people speak anything remotely against gays, they are immediately labeled as bigots and compared to Nazis. Too funny.

Also, define "irrational". What is irrational to you is normal to others. Heck I think doing cocaine is irrational but try to tell that to an addict.

Nice, comparing attraction and love to snorting illegal drugs. Real effective metaphor you have there.

You get what you give. Ho hummm. The truth is people can sense things about you even though you think you are doing a good job of hiding it. They respond in kind and you don't like the way you treat and look down on others being thrown right back at you.

I'm of the mind that homosexuality is a mental disorder. I think it's disgusting, and yes, I wish I didn't have to hear about it or see it. You have your right to condone it if you wish, I have my right to stand against it. I'm not going to discriminate against them, I just don't agree with their choices or lifestyle.

Unlike homosexuality, which is _not_ a choice, you are homophobic by choice. So guess what kind of person I would prefer. What kind of person I'd let into my home. What kind of person I'd want to work with. Hint: It's not you.

Cult? You are ********** nuts. Grab a dictionary and find the definition for "cult".
I could easily discriminate you on your IQ but I'll leave it to others because you are a waste of space.

Wow. You have only succeeded at demonstrating your own sad lack of intelligence. It is apparently you who need to research the definition of the word cult. As for discriminating against me, I do not extend to you such power.

But how is it harming you?
Maybe I don't like to see two ugly or obese people kissing
but i'm not going to tell them they can't fall in love with someone.
And if ugly / fat people are kissing etc in their own home, who is that harming?
Do you agree upon that?

Just out of curiosity - would you describe yourself as religious?

It's not a "personal agenda". He's actually using the powerful position he's in to help and inspire people who aren't fortunate enough to be in a place in life similar to his. There are people out there who have no support system and nobody to back them up if they were to come out of the closet. There are many people out there who look at CEOs like Tim as inspirational figures, and he may have just compelled a few of them who are gay to realize it's perfectly fine to be who they are.

Nobody forced you to read the article. Get over yourself.

Very well said.

He didn't say where he puts his genitals. Your fantasies provided that detail.

He came out as being homosexual. His sexuality is the core of this discussion. Sexuality generally involves the use of ones sexual organs. No need for fantasy here, this is what he is telling us, which we do not need to hear. From anyone. Period.

I wish MR would put a new click bait story on the front page, so we can all leave Tim Cook alone and his sexuality in peace....

Lifestyle. Right.

So, um, when did you choose the "heterosexual lifestyle"?

That's a direct insult to God! Implying that God made a mistake I don't think so. He has a choice and so does everyone else. If you ever read the bible you would know God created us with the specific power of choice.

When did you choose to be straight?
