What does that even mean? You don't have to "support his homosexuality." You simply have to want for him the same rights anyone else has.

I did not word that very well. Oops. I agree with you statement in that he has the freedom to live how he wants to live. I was just saying that I believe homosexuality is wrong. We all have the freedom to belief what we want to believe.

The debate is not against animals. It is about human, moral choice. Galatians Chapter 5 is the best explanation for my argument, as it outlines the acts of the sinful nature (man's natural state) and how it is in conflict with the fruit of the Spirit of God, which comes from accepting Christ as your Lord.

With regards to "experimentation", the Bible has this to say, both old and new testaments (again, don't shoot the messenger):

Leviticus 20:13: "'If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

1 Corinthians 6:9: "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

So yes, it does say it. Specifically.

However, to that it adds the escape clause, as it were:

1 Timothy 1:9 onwards: "We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus."

I do believe those speak to men who are heterosexual, but choose to have sex with men LIKE THEY WOULD WITH A WOMAN.

The Bible clearly frowned upon that.

The word "homosexual" did not appear in any English translations of the Bible until around the middle of the 20th century, yet we know historically that homosexuals existed at the time that the Bible was written. If that doesn't tell you that someone had an agenda in the middle of the 20th century, I dunno what does.

And it was not this "gay agenda" that people love to go on about.

interesting... how long did it take you to get to that point? And what made you decide to finally do it?

I've been interested in doing some sort of solar panels or something to cut my dependency on the power company.

i basically lived in a condo , sold everything i owned , bought 3 acre's of land and built a 800 sqft house with a basement.

The house uses a grey water filtration system , evacuated solar tubes and 2 x 3 panel solar arrays.

cost me about 36,000 canadian , me and my wife built the whole thing together.

the house can run 2 days without sunlight solely off battery. (12 battery array)

we did it because we wanted to save money and not have to rely on ecoonomy to live, its a great lifestyle and you can really appreciate whats on your land and utilize it to live. Our grocery bill is very small now and it keeps me busy maintaining it all.

took us 1 year to completion.

Whatever your thoughts are on stoning rapists, surely we can all agree that adulterers should be put to death, right?!?! As stated in Leviticus 20:10.

That would present a massive depopulation problem among other things. There some crimes that cause more immediate and lasting damage than others. I would like to think that society could regain a sense of shame where our broken sexuality is concerned without having to resort to such drastic deterrents.

*Sigh*

Well, bigotry is an ugly word with way more attached to it than you care to expand on, it seems. And I've been more than clear that my focus is on the behavior, NOT the individuals.

So instead of "bigotry" I'd use "disagreement" instead.

But stick to your guns if you want to.

Homosexuality is not a behavior. People don't choose to be homosexual. My choice of the word "bigot" was absolutely apt. You're using your religion as an excuse to mask your bigotry.

I don't trust Wikipedia as a reliable source since it is so easily manipulated by anyone. Can you provide a more credible source?

Do any of the 98 sources cited in that article meet your discerning criteria? Or did you just not bother to look at it because it's easier to dismiss it that way?

If you read between the lines, the ONLY reason he did it was to set an example for gay people thus, pushing an agenda. Doesn't get any simpler than that.

What is this gay agenda you speak of? As a gay person I am still puzzled as to what this big agenda is.... equal civil rights? I guess I can get on board with that.

And as I've posted before, there is a large community of individuals that DO actually choose to be gay.

That's not to say that ALL gays choose.

You are absolutely correct, Surf Monkey. Homosexuality being referred to as a "behavior" is right up there with it being referred to as a "lifestyle."

I find these characterizations offensive, at best. :(

So you're playing god now? Who the hell are you to decide which passages of the bible are meant to be held 100% literal and those which we can relax a bit on?! How dare you sir!!!

Right. Love the sinner not the sin. Nothing more condescending than that! Yes. Bigotry is an ugly word. One that suits religious people very well. Especially ones like you who try to couch your bigotry in pseudo intellectualism.

You do get that if you "choose" to have sex with people of the same sex you are not gay, right?

You're just sexually open.

There IS a difference. If you are attracted to and fall in love with persons of the same sex exclusively and are not attracted to persons of the opposite sex in a romantic OR a sexual way? You are gay.

Plenty of gay men and women think that persons of the opposite sex are good-looking. They're not blind. They just don't fall in love with them or want to enter into romantic relationships with them.

Same thing goes for heterosexuals, just reverse it.

No. It isn't. That is always a terrible comparison. Even many in the LBGT community don't like that comparison. Genetically, those aren't in the same sphere.

Why is it a terrible comparison? Sure it's not exactly the same, but there are a lot of similarities. Both are aspects of a person's biological makeup that they have no control over. Like skin colour, a person's sexuality doesn't affect anyone else, but for some reason a few people like to attack those who they perceive as different from themselves.

In the case of homophobia, it is generally either the result of religious indoctrination, or just primitive matcho bravado that makes some men feel they have to point out how disgusting it is at every opportunity, as if not doing so would somehow turn them gay themselves.

This sort of person loves to think of themselves of being inherently superior to others for one reason or another. I think this is why religions always claim special privileges will be granted to those who conform to their rules, while providing sadistic details about what will happen to those who don't.

Please explain...really explain just how we are being hateful?

In precisely the same way people who opposed interracial marriage were being hateful. They made the exact same arguments and used religion to justify that bigotry as well. Look at some historical literature opposing interracial marriage. You can replace phrases like 'interracial marriage' with 'gay marriage' and it will look like something that would be written by the National Organization for Marriage just yesterday.

It seems to me that hateful and bigoted people don't actually understand what those words mean.

Please explain...really explain just how we are being hateful?

It's simple. People no more choose to be gay than they choose to be black. Saying "being gay is wrong" is the same thing as saying "being black is wrong." If you told a black person "you're wrong to be black" you'd be considered hateful on the face of it. Same deal with gays. Saying that it's wrong to be gay is hateful.

Deuteronomy 22:13-21
"A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be put to death."

...yes, lets all follow the incredibly crude and barbaric "morals" of the early bronze age desert cults. Because the life in the Dark ages was so great.

How are you people even using computers?
