The Steam app is still in version 1.0 and it was released in january?

How about they improve the god damn app, atleast for chatting. i want that app to support multitasking so my chat conversation doesn't always go offline.

and a iPad app ofcourse, the pixelated app on the ipad is just not good. but it's neat to have this app atleast...

Come on update the app soon :D

Gamestop's business model doesn't work with PC gaming. That doesn't mean PC gaming is necessarily hurting.

They own a very successful distribution method. I don't think simply wanting someone's games on your platform warrants a site visit.

Although I personally think something bigger is happening between Apple and Valve, I think that does warrant a personal visit.

Jobs personally spoke with film and TV studios about securing content and, unlike Valve, they distribute content through multiple sources.

Valve games are exclusive to Steam, if Apple distributes Steam/Valve games it will be the first 3rd party to do so.

Valve HQ

Why is it that when I think of Valve's headquarters, all I can think of is an underground dirty sewer with bouncy and super-slick goo.?!

Actually Apple CEO Tim Cook is visiting because because Valve is the partner for the New Apple Television / Game Console / Entertainment center.

And yes I'm totally serious…

Half-Life 3 exclusive to Mac OS X anyone?

Why the negative comments? It's the kind of thing Apple usually pull off. My bet is that the deal will be more substantial than this, but either way it's good news.

Could you imagine Apple & Valve making a onlive competitor to go with their apple tv or other iOS device? Apple should so front the cost for the servers and such!!! XD

Not wanting to add to this, but...... this inside an Apple TV??

Valve is seeking an electronics engineer to work on hardware, rekindling speculation that the Half-Life, Portal and Team Fortress 2 dev might be working on its own console.

According to a job ad on the company's official recruitment page, it's looking for someone to help develop hardware intended to "enhance" the gameplay experiences it provides.

"For years, Valve has been all about writing software that provides great gameplay experiences. Now we're developing hardware to enhance those experiences, and you can be a key part of making that happen," reads the post.

"Join our highly motivated team that's doing hardware design, prototyping, testing, and production across a wide range of platforms. We're not talking about me-too mice and gamepads here - help us invent whole new gaming experiences."

The successful candidate will "work with the hardware team to conceive, design, evaluate, and produce new types of input, output, and platform hardware." Although the natural assumption is that Valve's working on some sort of peripheral, the requirements for "System level design experience" and familiarity with the "ARM / X86 system design" suggests it's putting together something a little more exciting.

Rumours of Valve's 'Steam Box' first circulated last month, when anonymous sources claimed Valve has been working on nailing down the hardware for a PC/console hybrid.

Valve's Doug Lombardi denied the rumours and claimed hardware in development at the company is being designed to test Steam's Big Picture Mode UI.

Don't know which company I admire most, the one that give me the iPhone or the one that give me Half-Life/Portal.

One good things can come out of this, if it is true. You know, too good to be true.

meeting for keynote?

I think they are probably just meeting so that when they bring out those awesome new macbook pros at the end of this month, valve can be one of those privileged developers who get all the spec beforehand and can showcase their sweet new game (optimized for new macbook pro specs) at the keynote when it´s introduced.:)

They did the same thing for the ipad and iphone launches. actually they do it everytime

Valve isn't a publicly traded company, and currently makes tons of money. Apple can't just walk in and buy them out unless Gabe Newell says "OH ALRITE! I GUESS I CAN RETIRE EARLY NOW" or something similar.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

As if he couldn't already.

No because I cannot see that needing a visit from THE boss of Apple to Valve.

As for the Wii U, its target market is hardcore gamers, not a follow up to the Wii strategy.

Is this a joke? Wii U's target market better not be hardcore gamers. It's already rumored to be not as powerful as the current consoles! It's going to completely fail if it is aimed at hardcore gamers (already I've seen some articles about how some game companies are going to be ignoring it).

Besides, Nintendo always seems to aim more towards the kiddy and casual market. At least since the playstation it seems most hardcore type games went to the playstation or xbox.

They have a long way to go if they want to gain a reputation amongst hard core gamers. I'm not even that hard core of a gamer (Though I prefer games that Sony and MS get rather than the stupid stuff I see on Nintendo) and I know they aren't known for the hard core games! And that with the Wii they really were successful more with casual games/party games/kid games.

Great news. Valve has a lot going for them. Lots of smart folks over there. If I could pick one company to work for, it would be valve.

Steam on ATV actually makes a lot of sense. Bluetooth is built into ATV2 and 3, and yet, is it being used for anything yet? I always wondered why the remote isn't on bluetooth, but it would make even more sense for game controllers.

If ATV ever gets even half-way decent games available for it, it would REALLY juice ATV sales. A lot of ATV's out there would give Apple a lot of leverage with content providers...you can fill in the rest.

App Store

Tim Cook is probably trying to get all of the Valve titles on the Mac App Store. That's what I would be doing, because it would make the App Store a more prominent application because it would have real games on it too, not just angry birds.
