"And when we do take off from this planet in our spaceship, you can set aside the land as a park."

What an idiotic question. I wonder how Steve would have responded or if he'd just looked at them like, "Did you really just ask me that?"

When Jobs talked to the council about this, they acted like little little children in the presence of their idol. They had no idea what to tell him and just kept going on about wanting free wifi. And these are the people you need to impress in that part of the USA to get your building permits approved.

Put some love and energy in your body. You need to workout!

Being CFO of such a big great company brings some responsibility for your shareholders :p

I thought they were going to plant drought-tolerant native plants and return the site to its natural state? I liked that idea. Seemed suitably forward thinking for a tech company.

If anything they ought to try permaculture, planting all natives is an invitation to invasive species and therefore herbicide use. :mryuck:

Is this guy completely retarded or just briefed poorly?

"We are making the most environment friendly building that has ever been build... Beginning with energy... ..70% of the total energy consumption will be produced on site by solar power.."

Fun fact: Hundreds of thousands of buildings in the world are producing energy surplus - some by 50 to 100%..

Are you just selectively eliminating words? "...the most environment friendly building of its size that has ever..."

I would suspect most of those don't house tech companies, the machine rooms alone in the new campus will probably eat more electricity than most whole corporations do in their HQ. Not to mention most of the buildings you might reference house nowhere near the number of people this one will.

I will definitely want to visit this one day. It seems quite appealing. Thumbs up for green.

Will it feature an Apple retail location? I certainly hope so.

The lines to buy an Apple product from within the mother ship would be awe inspiring for sure.

Could Be The Beginning Of The End

I have been an Apple Fan since I bought my first Mac computer almost 30 years ago. I have fought corporate environments all my career promoting Macs and staying the course.

Now however, Apple has become the 800 pound gorilla in the computer industry and pounding it's chest with a corporate design that is an extravagant use of the billions they have in capital at a time when they are falling behind in technology and innovation.

I would much rather see lower prices and more innovation than a spaceship. Another company tried to do this about the time I bought my first Mac. Remember Atari, the glamor of the game industry? What ever happened to their state of the art campus? Most of all what happened to Atari?

Apple should stay the course, but innovation and technology is passing them by and with a new facility, it will not impress anyone unless they do something for their customer base.

As a customer I feel abandoned. We need a new Apple, not a new Apple facility. Make a pledge to your customers and not to yourselves or you will become another Atari.

Steve had a term for guys like that. S***head! I think it was...
Or maybe just "Bozo"...

Why not wait a few years and see if Apple can still fly on it's own once Job's momentum runs out?

We can at least put hope in this: If Ballmer can run Microsoft without killing it, Cook can run Apple.

How else do you expect the trees to get there?

Right now, most of that HP land is parking lot pavement.

Didn't know that. Maybe I should have just looked it up

He said ****head quite a few times. C player too.

Walking and Sunshine

With walking in the open sunlight to meetings the workers will get exercise and vitamin D to increase their positive thinking and healthy waistlines. So hopefully some new great products more often!!!! :)

Has anyone made the rather fatuous quip about the juxtaposition of a previous Oppenheimer's quote "I am death, destroyer of worlds" when your press photo looks a little like a nuclear airburst?

I'd hate to be the second person to make it.

Well, at current pace, they'll have $200BLN in the bank.... so they can afford to wait until the *money* runs out. Apple doesn't lose sleep worrying about momentum. Every company has ups and downs. But if you create quality products people want, everything else falls in line.
