I went through the same decision. The Dell is cheaper. You can find a 25% off coupon floating out there. I got mine in the low $800's plus it comes with a 3 year warranty. Add $100 to the ACD to account for 3 year Applecare. I ended up with the U2711. It is an awesome monitor that will not disappoint. Outside of aesthetics, it is better in every way (inputs, manual controls, fluorescent backlight for more accurate color).

Really? I didn't know the dell had magsafe output for the MBP, or a built in iSight....

Depends on what you care about. I don't care about those things since I have a camera on my laptop and it has a charger. Producing accurate colors is what I care about along with the warranty. Plus I use the big Apple keyboard along with a multi card reader, and those plug into my Dell. That way I only need to plug into one USB port to my Macbook Pro because of the 4 port USB hub on the Dell.

In Singapore

I got my Dell U2711 for SGD$749
Apple Store is selling the ACD (with edu discount) for SGD$1388

I could almost buy 2 Dells for 1 ACD.

Yep, I could have posted pretty much exactly the same thing.
