I ordered 2 iphones and entered the Upgrade program. Both are being shipped to me directly, like any other year. Not having to pickup at a store.

Well if Apple doesn't fix the process for next year, you'll be down in the trenches with the rest of us.

So I called them before this got popular and the first IUP rep asked me for some info. Got a call moments ago from another IUP rep asking for some info I was missing that I gave to the other guy, but the consensus is that she said they are prioritizing current IUP members to get their phones in their store of choice ASAP. Said they would be calling me when my phone will be available which she said around 2-3 weeks since I choose the 7 plus 256GB Jet Black which of course she said was their most popular color. If I chose a different color could of probably gotten it on launch day. Oh well, time to give everyone else their jet blacks before me as I work launch day at my Apple store this Friday!

One hour, fifty minutes into the hold music... I just keep thinking... This is Apple. Surely... they could have more than five different songs in their hold music...

... maybe tap into that whole Apple Music thang...

sigh

After this it better be a Jet Black 256GB appointment on Saturday or else I believe I believe I believe I believe I believe I'm not gonna be happy.

Ha!!! My wife told me she would shoot me if she had to hear "its 11:59 and 59 seconds" again.

Wow Apple is really starting to get swamped by calls. I called yesterday at 6:26pm Est and got transferred to IUP specialist, took by info, store, 2 desired phones all in 23mins. Says I will get call back in 48hrs.

People now waiting over 2hrs is crazy.

I've called several times and haven't been able to actually get ahold of a person. i've been on hold for 55 minutes, 25 minutes, and now rolling onto 30 minutes on the third call. Any advice?!

2 hours and 45 minutes on my end to get through everything. I reached the first rep after 37 minutes, then it took nearly two hours to get the IUP specialist on. Both were nice, though the first rep was a bit surly until I cheerfully told her I planned to spend the hold time cleaning. Which I did, and my office is much better organized now. I also took the Apple reps on a ride to pick up my husband from bowling, to the gas station, and to Arby's. Naturally, the IUP specialist comes on as I'm driving home. The first rep checked in on me every 15 minutes or so.

I am looking to get a 128GB Rose Gold 7 Plus with T-Mobile. The main reason I wanted to just go ahead and call is because of the distance involved just for me to get to an Apple Store. I gave her the two closest Apple Stores to me (45 minutes in one direction, an hour in the other). I got the standard "will get back to you in 48 hours" speech and already got my email with the rep's contact information. So, fingers crossed!

On hold waiting for the IUP specialist... I've actually got a variety of music now, but the poor specialist on hold to hand me off told me he's been hearing "11:59 and 59 seconds..." pretty much the whole time he's been waiting. I sort of feel a little bad for him. Just a little. :D

OK so after 30 minutes I finally got through to someone. Then, after being interrogated for another 20 minutes, I was told that I would be transferred to the iPhone upgrade program, then I was placed on hold for AN HOUR. Finally someone picks up, and it was NOT someone in the iPhone upgrade program, but rather, a clueless specialist who wanted to asked me all the same questions over again, then directed me to the website and told me to go through the steps of ordering the phone from there. Of course, that doesn't work since it is saying that there are no appointments available and I'm not able to order it there.

Finally I just had to hang up and try calling back.. hopefully I get someone who is actually competent this time. They really need to do a better job training their phone support people. That was pathetic.

This is getting really infuriating...

Spent 2h11m on hold and got disconnected. After 40 minutes finally was in queue for an IUP specialist. Called back, 27 minutes in and still waiting for the initial rep. Yeah, this got popular. Not happy. And for the love of god, please don't play 11:59:59 anymore :(

Same experience... called this morning to no avail, then called tonight, spoke to three different people, 2 hours later...FINALLY got a hold of an actual IUP specialists who took my info and gave me 72 hour window.

A lot of the IUP team seems to be in Austin, and over the weekend they weren't available at night. I'm just speculating but maybe that's still the case.

Been on hold an hour. Spoke to someone who clearly had no idea what they are talking about.

I called in earlier this morning and had the same experience. I asked for her email, sent her a screenshot of Apple's new fine print on the reservation page, was placed on a brief hold, and she got me sent to the right person.

Maybe try that avenue as it seems to help having something official from the mothership to show them.

Was on the phone for three hours and four minutes. They told me they'd be in touch in 72 hours. Wait times are starting to extend, it seems.

For me I told them I want jet black but also was very clear that if I could get a matte black on launch I'll take it.

Phone call is up to 2 hours 50 minutes. Talked to someone at first who was nice, but little help about this situation. I explained to him what I've read online. He seemed semi aware of what was going on, and said there were multiple similar calls today. He transferred me to an AUP SPECIALIST. It appears I am in the queue for the proper line. The on hold music is beginning to feel like a form of torture though.

For those who have gotten a call back; what have your options been?

I've seen some say that they have a reservation launch day, others say they have a phone reserved for a week, and others say a 2-3 week timeframe.

I called earlier (4pm central)and went through the usual hoops in a little under 2 hours.

Jet Black 2-3 weeks. Matte black launch day

Seems like we can get matte black launch day and jet black in 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure which one I want. Jet looks awesome and isn't as slippery scratches easily and have to wait 2-3 weeks. Matte is still beautiful is very slippery but can get this Friday.

Actually jet black is slippery. Matte black isn't.
If anyone waits 2-3weeks they'll have to pay one more installment for the 6s. So do take that in consideration unless Apple gives a deal to forgo that payment

After 2.5 hours on hold I was disconnected, then tried calling back, on hold for 30 more minutes, then disconnected again. Called back again and it said Apple is closed. During the first call i talked to one lady for 30 minutes and she said there was an hour wait for IUP. After that hour, I got someone who had no idea what was going on, was totally clueless, and was not in the IUP. I finally just had to hang up on her.

I wrote Tim Cook a long scathing e-mail about this experience, and about their highly anti-consumer removal of the 3.5mm audio IO jack. As if they care.
