I pre-ordered the 7+ 128GB Black about 2 mins after preorder went live under the upgrade program and it shows a delivery date of Sept. 27th - 29th. Not sure what everyone else is telling them, but I just got off the phone with them and they were zero help. Just told me sorry and that it was a popular model.
You ordered a very popular model that is in high demand, low volume.
They can't just poof one out of the air.
And they usually always overestimate the deliver date, so you will probably see your much sooner.

As with another poster, this is the first time you've purchased through the IUP and the issues are for those who purchased with IUP last year and are now looking to upgrade for the first time.

Ah, I see that now. Wasn't clear in the article. :)

Hopefully this is not a reflection of what will happen next year!

At this point I don't thin anyone upgrading using IUP will get a phone until October. I just wanted a fair chance to preorder like the rest that are not using IUP.

All phones on IUP are unlocked

Didn't answer the question. The AT&T phone is not CDMA.

Hmm, maybe I missed something or hope my order is ok. I logged on at exactly 3am EDT during pre-order, website on my computer wasn't up so I started through the app on my phone. I selected a 256GB iPhone 7 Plus in Black and when I selected pickup, I saw 8am available at an Apple store near me. When I went to check out, it said my pickup option didn't match when the device would be ready and my device slipped from Launch Day to Sept 27 - Oct 2. A little disheartening but I paid the extra $10 for the rush shipping to be delivered by Sept 23 - Sept 27, I clicked the order button and then got an "Oops!" message.

I damn near died but then shortly there after I got my confirmation email with order number from Apple then got my confirmation from Citizens One welcoming to the iPhone upgrade program.

I seem to have my order number and delivery date in order, wondering if I should call however to see if I can pick up my phone on or shortly after launch day?

They are charging for rush shipping? I thought it was all one shipping speed until supply caught up with demand like in years past.

Sounds like this is your first phone through the IUP? This issue is for the folks who signed up for the program last year and want to upgrade. You can only upgrade in store (you have to give the old phone back) and there were issues with the process.

I must have lucked out, I'm upgrading and I had my confirmation email by 03:03:30 EST! 128GB ATT 7 in black with an 8 - 8.30am pickup time on Friday. I went through the App which knew I was eligible for an upgrade and pushed me straight to the reservation system...

I was pretty sure you can only sign up/upgrade via in store reservations

Hmm, not sure about that, but I had a rush shipping option and if I am paying all this money for this phone, I figured $10 ain't gonna hurt. TRYING to get my phone before I travel on Sept 23rd as well so I am crossing my fingers for a Sept 23rd delivery date, or sooner!

I'm actually on the phone w/ them now (more on hold than talking over last 40 minutes) to see what happens.

You're in the US, different process as I understand it.

For the Uk you have to make a store reservation, for which the ability to do so is restricted to store stock. Also the UK site was screwed and sending us all to the US site. By the time it was resolved there was no stock anywhere.
Makes sense. Last year being the first year for the US you had to go into a store as well.

Dont get too upset about not being able to access the 'new' featueres of the iPhone 7 just yet. . Think positively. It is just a slower, heavier, thicker, and much less attractive version of the iPhone 8. There's a whole year yet until you buy the full version - a coupla more weeks won't make a difference. Spend the time getting a new case, Bluetooth headphones and thinking of things that are close to use the wide angle lens for or stuff that is further away to take shots with the telephoto lens with. Job done!

Sounds like your better off going carrier or paying full price at this point. I can wait I have a perfectly fine 6s+

What is the number to call and who to ask for?

Due to high demand, the model you'd like may not be available. Please call 1-800-MY-APPLE and mention the iPhone Upgrade Program. A Specialist will help you find the model you want.

No one says we should get priority. But when I tried to preorder 5 seconds after the apple store app was up all phones were sold out and you couldn't make a reservation, while there was no issue to purchase a phone if you are not part of the Apple Upgrade program.

Oh right, so the iPhone Upgrade Program reservation pool of products were a hell of a lot smaller, rather than just being from the same pool? Yeah, that's not cool.

Exactly the pool was smaller since the reservations availability was based on inventory in the stores

Is it fair that those who purchased their phone outright will have to wait with the dates they are given? I placed my order within the first 20 min. window of the site actually functioning. Still ended up with a Sep. 27-29 date.

EDIT: Just read up, yeah that sucks. I'd complain as well.

Well no luck. Supposedly (and this could be completely wrong which I think it is maybe) because of me being on T-Mobile I need to do the reservation in store. Some hoo-ha because of it where Charles couldn't do anything. I didn't press and I'm not sure if I want to make the trek and just be put in the queue w/ everyone else. :( Might try on Saturday when reservations open up again, but if that doesn't work I'll just wait things out. I'm in no rush really, no sort of, no ugh.

When they call back I'll post again. But at this point even that I called and "reserved" nothing was promised to me or confirmed. You got a window that you expect your phone. I got a promise to get a call back in 48h

On the phone now. Agent doesn't seem to know about the new process. I haven't been transferred yet. Agent is saying that because I have an in-store reservation for Friday morning (even though it's not the phone I want), they'll let me switch to whatever inventory I want during my reservation.

Asked agent to search Knowledgebase for "IUP" "IUP Specialist" to make sure I'm not supposed to be transferred to another group for processing. That seemed to help, and she transferred me to another group.

I'm on the IUP and couldn't get a reservation for a 7+ so I made a reservation for the same model but a 7 instead. You can actually change the model when you go in to the store to do the transaction and my res time is 10AM. I spoke to Apple and the rep was confident that I'd be able to get a black 7+ w/256GB. The res lets you cut the line and choose from whatever stock is available at the time. Doubtful that this tidbit helps those looking for jet black, but it's a workaround in the meantime.
