Sometimes when a vendor "authorizes" a charge it appears to be a charge on the card, when it's not. Apple was authorizing cards before they shipped. The CC company leaves it on for a few days because they are expecting the charge. It drops off when the charge doesn't happen. When I buy gas I often see an Apple Pay charge of $95 before I start pumping the gas. This is just the authorization which is replaced with the actual charge when the transaction is complete.
