if it's the worst why are you still with them? vote with your wallet instead of being a keyboard politician.

Obviously you don't understand the concept of oligopolies and monopolies.

----------

You sir, are an idiot. How does heavy regulation of oligopolies going to prevent your order from being cancelled due to a need to re-verify your identity. They aren't going to regulate product launches to confirm everyone is treated fairly based on your pre-order time.
Keep your political opinions to yourself, especially when you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Again... You sir, are an idiot

Not sure if you're joking with your response since it lacks any intelligent thought in the entire statement. But here I'll go ahead and entertain you; here is any article that discusses the problems with telecoms:

It's written in a manner in which an imbecile like yourself(not holding my breathe) can understand.

This is not even a apples to apples comparison. You are talking 20+ years ago. Different time, different business model, different everything![/QUOTE]

Really? you think monopolies work better now? We still have heavily regulated companies in the US - insurance companies, utilities....their products are cheap and the customer service is great!

I happen to live in an area with no utility competition. I have lousy DSL for which I pay $55/month and pay crazy money for water service. The only utility that works well is the electric/gas service because it is a co-op.

Lol, this thread made me decide to ensure there was no issue with my order since it said processing still...in the time I tried to call apple (I hate their automated system) my order changed to shipped.

Anyway..

Sorry for the bs you're going through op.

I had called Best Buy in hopes of being able to get one from them. On the phone I was told if I came and preordered one and showed up at 10:00am on Friday I will have a phone. When I go to the store the employee told me I would't get a phone Friday, he said that half the people in line wouldn't get a phone either. It feels like they have intentionally oversold their actual launch day stock.

For those who have stood in line how early did you go? I have a midterm at 2:00PM so I wouldn't mind going at around 6:00am and waiting to get the phone. Or are lines usually huge by 6:00am?

Good luck, Voski! I gave up when I called Apple today and they had no update for me - the rep didn't even seem sad or concerned that I was canceling. So I went to AT&T and got a 32GB White iPhone 4 because I don't want to mess with it anymore. I just have a Samsung phone so it's an upgrade either way, I'll just be a little less upgraded than I originally wanted to be.

My order was cancelled due to my own stupidity.

A little background info...My wife got fed up with AT&T's service, so she moved to Verizon at the beginning of the year. I was going to wait until the new iPhone was released and add a new line to her account, but I added the line early in order to get unlimited data. I didn't want to stop using my iPhone 4 on AT&T, so I kept both accounts open. As soon as the details were announced about the new iPhone 4S, I sold my iPhone 4 on AT&T. When it came time to pre-order, I used my existing account information with Verizon. Well, after placing my order, I figured I could have everything ready for when I got the 4S and port my AT&T number over. Bad move on my part. What I didn't realize was that Apple verifies the account information prior to shipping and since my old number is no longer associated with an account, my order was cancelled.

They sent me an email saying I needed to submit another order and reply with the new order number. They said they would try to honor the original shipping date. I did just that and they replied back that they would do "make every effort to meet (my) original delivery date."

I guess we'll see.

So we had planned to go to the mall at around 5:30am or so... Ended up waking up around 9am or so. Called a whole bunch of places to see who still had phones in stock and it wasn't looking good.

Then a friend said she found a random AT&T store that had no line. Drove to the store walked in and bought a phone at 10am with no issues
