Don't be down, they are only shipping in 1-3 days not being delivered in that time.

Most credit cards extend warranty too right? So is it mainly for the convenience of being able to just walk into an Apple store and get it replaced?

I think most do. I usually pay for my iOS devices up front so AC+ or insurance is a must for me. Also with it extending the warranty, that's a huge plus as I hand mine down to my wife every year.
