When will it shift to preparing for shipment?
Do they text/email when the status changes from Processing to Preparing? I assumed it was only when it shipped.

Yeah just for when it ships. It'll say "Apple store: Good news! Items in order (order number) have shipepd and will deliver on (date). For more info: and link to status page.
Should take about 2 days for tracking once it begins prepping for shipment. If you just got charged, you're close!

Don't worry, last week was hell when the people that ordered on 9/19 and were getting status changes and all. It was a good 3-4 day wait after that before my status changed (ordered on 9/20). Hopefully this week you will get an update as well.

No, I just checked my credit card, first and it showed 2 Apple charges, and then we back to my apple.com status page and it was showing "Preparing for Shipment"
