I'm stunned Cook et al did something that might be viewed as patriotic or respectful to the military.
Why is that?

Love it. As a vet, I love seeing people get to enjoy a holiday dedicated to the memories of those we lost. I'm not big on the whole, "'You shouldn't be happy", shtick you see a lot. We should all be damn happy that there are those who made sacrifices so we can be happy. They would be partying right there with us, doing their best to enjoy their time in memory of those who can't.
It's marketing, nothing more.

It's a nice gesture for people who lost their lives selflessly. I don't have to be a fan of the cause that they are fighting for, and I don't "support the military," but I support the individuals and families who have sacrificed their lives. Sympathy to the individual and sympathy for the system are different things.
I can't believe how many "Happy Memorial Day" things I have seen this week, Memorial Day is not a happy holiday, but one for remembrance...

Nope. Not at all.aye jeez
These sort of displays really seem... I dunno. A bit on the extra weird side.
I’m sure they feel no weirder than any dinner at the home of a war widow or widower feels for that family who wasn’t lucky enough to see their loved one again.
Remembering the cost of freedom in such a manner is never weird, in my opinion.aye jeez

In my opinion, serving our Republic isn't about looking (or expecting) for third party discounts.Nice...
Meanwhile at T-Mobile Veterans get a Samsung 50 percent off. An Apple device... full price.
Your move Apple.
In my opinion, saying Happy Memorial Day is not making light of the sacrifices made by those who paid the ultimate price of freedom, it is about rejoicing in the fact people in this Republic care enough about duty, honor, country to take a stand against threats to this Republic, as well as to those we stand with treaties in force.I can't believe how many "Happy Memorial Day" things I have seen this week, Memorial Day is not a happy holiday, but one for remembrance...
I don't think pointing out a surprising action is "crapping" on someone. So, to be clear: The gesture, in my opinion, is fantastic. At the same time, it is surprising. Two things can be true at the same time. There’s always that guy who feels the need to crap on someone who does something good.

And what about this article makes you think that Apple feels otherwise?
Well said.Remembering the cost of freedom in such a manner is never weird, in my opinion.

Rejoicing in freedom while remembering the real cost paid. That is what the day is about, in my opinion.
Would you prefer a row of seating?Love the sentiment but is it not a little strange that the metaphorical soldier is sitting on their own?
Google doing something would be incredibly surprising. This is the company that won't do a simple Easter Doodle but will do a Cesar Chavez doodle.I commend Apple for remembering the fallen men and women and now lets see what Google does next! I highly doubt it though![]()
Who cares about foreigners opinion's on this issue?haha.. Apple's really committed... a lonely table by itself :/ They got space... stick American flags up everywhere instead.
I don't know. Can you remember and be happy at the same time?I can't believe how many "Happy Memorial Day" things I have seen this week, Memorial Day is not a happy holiday, but one for remembrance...
Starting Friday, May 25, more than 30 restaurants in San Clemente and Dana Point will prominently display the tables — each one set with one chair.
A red rose on the table signifies the blood that was shed and is a reminder that some families and friends still have faith that their missing service member will return. A yellow ribbon represents the prisoners of war and those missing in action, while a lit candle represents the light of hope.
A slice of lemon on the bread plate recalls the bitter fate of the missing and salt sprinkled on the plate symbolizes the tears that have been shed. An inverted glass is a reminder that the missing and fallen can no longer partake.
The clubhouse where my HOA has their meetings has one setup year-round. Step up your game Apple.
