Seriously can’t wait to get my hands on it. I just hope it’s not overly expensive. The price has to be right. Not $2,500, please. You can easily buy a new MacBook Pro with that kinda money.
What could a “consumer” monitor apple produce for $2,500 (if it is indeed that expensive do that a decent $1,000 LG, Samsung etc monitor can’t?

looking at Dells decent alternatives. The price seems to be around the 1000 USD mark. So yeah, not surprised if Apple launches something in the 1999$ mark.

my 27-inch LED Cinema Display is over 10 years old now and it still works ☉_☉

really looking forward to see these new displays!!!

There needs to be a 27" iMac that starts at no more than $2,200. There needs to be a consumer display that is the same panel as that iMac, but without the computer inside. Why would the same display, without computer, be as expensive? No consumer display should cost more than $1,000.

The LG displays are ugly and plastic and chunky, with questionable build quality, but US2,500 does seem pricey given the 5k iMac ‘only’ costs 1,800
I have had the LG 27” 5K display since it was released. It has been flawless. No performance issues whatsoever.

My Thunderbolt Display is still working for me but due for an upgrade. Plastic PC displays don't cut it I'm a form over function guy. Ready to buy at that price.
My DVI Apple Cinema Displays (2006) are still working great!

will they please just make an affordable 32 inch 4K monitor ? 120, mini not necessary !!!
LG 32BN88U-B

It’s not the most amazing screen but it’s also not bad at all when you see it in person. Not many have a 140ppi or higher especially at that size. $620-$700

The display is the most expensive part. Then you need to consider the actual demand from Apple stand point. The number of people who want a 27 inch display might not be worth the effort to them. An update to target display mode might be a better cheaper option here.

I work a lot with text and I really like how sharp the retina screens look.

However, nobody competes with Apple on retina monitors except for Dell and their 8k monitor which is not cheap either and also outdated.

Honestly, I will probably get any 32 inch retina monitor that is released. At $2500 it would be an instant buy for me if it had at least 2 inputs.

Thanks for the tip!

Does this have any panel problems?

Also, do you know if it has the "secret sauce" calibration Apple branded LG monitors have?

2500$ for "consumer" level display?
What are they smoking?
Nevermind, its Apple :D

It's because of how horrible display scaling in macOS is and has been since at least macOS Mojave. Anything that's not 200% looks awful, since there's no longer any (good?) sub-pixel anti-aliasing. That includes native resolution (100% scaling), like you mentioned. The problem with most competing displays is that 200% scaled text is too big on them. Even 4K 27" at 200% is pretty big.
I do find that 1440 scaled to 4K is not terrible. It may not be quite as crisp as a true 5K but it’s not as blurry as a 1:1 1440 monitor. Since we don’t have any good options for 5K screens, I’m using a 4K 27” and it works fine.

I haven’t read about any glaring issues. The BN version does have a 3 year warranty however.

Not sure if it has the secret sauce but it’s supposed to be very accurate out of the box.

I'm quite happy with 1440p resolution scaled to my 4.5K iMac screen. Occasionally text is a bit small for my aging eyes but I can always zoom when necessary. It still looks retina-sharp to me.
