Work from home quality strikes again.

No wonder Tim Cook is demanding, not asking, employees to come back asap.
Do tell how is testing activation (that in real life, is done by customers around the world in their own homes) have to be done inside the space ship office. Testing this outside with outside internet connectivity instead of internal would actually be a better testing ground.

So I will get my new iPhone tomorrow but can’t usenit because it is impossible to activate it? Tim Cook should be gone by now.

iPhones have had eSIM since the Xs.
This is more like iOS16 bug as it is fixed with 16.0.1.
Still, for a company that keeps bragging about software and hardware, and post PC era, it's embarrassing.
Last year was the first year that iPhones (from Apple) came with a pre-installed eSIM and no physical sim though. Maybe they were trying to prepare people from the eventual (and unusual) removal of the sim tray

Crapple strikes again! Where is the sandbox testing? Why does Apple keep shipping software and hardware with issues? The lack of QA testing that goes on here is out of control. It's iOS4 and earlier all over again "Connect to iTunes" to activate.

doubt it…iPhones came with eSIM activated last year and it seemed to go smoothly…this just seems to happen every few years
It didn’t for me. Last year, I went from a 12 Pro with a physical SIM to a 13 Pro eSIM and it wouldn’t activate. I had to call AT&T for them to do it manually.

Good point. Still, considering 16.0.1 fixed the issue shows that it's an iOS bug, not related to eSIM.

I have already wiped and prepped my 13 pro for it’s new owner, but glad I have a backup!

Because of my fears with activating the eSIM being issue on launch day, I decided to move my service to my older Xs max before I ditch my physical sim.

I hope I can activate and still use my 14 pro prior to moving service over to it. I usually set up my new phone, & let it download apps and back ups while I continue using my older devices on the side.

In summary, Apple has pushed the envelope to produce an epic iPhone and Apple has **** the bed to create the worst iPhone yet. Apple is the best company ever and it is also going to absolute ****ing hell.

Relax. This sounds like a non-issue. From what I’m reading, it sounds like it may impact some users connecting through an open wi-if network. And it goes on to say that if there is an error, that you should select the Mac/PC option — but then return to the previous screen to try wi-fi again. We’ll know more later, so there is no point in creating drama in advance.
