there are lots of bugs and battery drain problems but apple cares about emoji...
this must be a bad joke...
Do you really think the same people are working on those issues? There are dozens of teams working on various aspects of iOS and the mobile market.

I don’t understand the disdain so many people have for emojis. They’re literally on a different keyboard, one you never have to access, so if you don’t like them, don’t use them, don’t see the value in them, don’t use them! It’s that easy.

Obviously, a lot of people like and use (and feel strongly about the inclusiveness of) emojis, and Apple is answering to that market. Just like they’re working on making the camera better and improving security and adding wireless charging, and the rest.

Thank goodness for that...

I was concerned about the lag and bugs of ios 11, but now i see that all i really need is a few more emojis, and then the world will be right again.

I think what puzzles us and precipitates comments is the apparent priority of Apple in issuing a statement about emojis, but no comments on all the other things you mention. No statement about fixing bugs.. wireless charging.. etc etc etc.
Hence the sarcasm.

I can’t find an emoticon to sum up the ridiculousness of all this. It would have to be a cross between tearing my hear out and looking criminally insane.

Perhaps a straight jacket emoticon would work too.

who cares. it's not like this will take alot of time to integrate. it's a standard procedure by now and apple pretty much has to integrate them, because android will too and it would be more annoying to get a message with a sign your phone doesn't show correctly.

Now I have to fight with the lack of a search bar, new and infinitely annoying left/right/settings buttons when changing keyboard and iOS 11 emoji keyboard alignment bug.

Makes it kind of not worth the hassle.

I find emojis almost - but not quite - completely useless.

That said, they are a part of Unicode and as such should be included with every modern platform.

As to some of the complaints above: Not a single programmer spent any time making these. Artists are drawing them and adding them to the appropriate font and that's it.

Apple has more than enough money to pay both, programmers and artists. So nothing is lost by adding emojis for people who like them.

The size they occupy is also insignificant in times where a single photo is measured in tens of megabytes.

And if you hate emojis so much - just don't use any!

iOS 11.0 - 19th Sept
iOS 11.0.1 - 26th Sept
iOS 11.0.2 - 3rd Oct

Your point?

Like i said, no statement on fixing bugs, for example the major lag many people are reporting.

But emojis get a super press release.

I wish Apple would put this much effort into updating the Mac Mini, or making new routers, or improving Siri etc.
Or just maybe the Emoji Movie 2 needs some new characters.
Or maybe another small sign that Apple is losing the plot.
Or maybe this will keep investors happy.
