Ha Ha... Awso... I MEAN: HA HA AWSOME :D

I think over here in Europe because of the lack of Netflix it makes the Apple TV less of a serious option over something else like it. I don't tend to buy that much stuff from the iTunes Store in terms of films or TV shows.

Where did you get these figures from?

As far as I know Apple never gave any sales figures for the Apple TV. I've seen speculation of sales around the 6 million mark but never as high as yours.

They haven't officially. All Jobs would say is "We've sold a bunch of them." So, they could have sold 1 million for all we know.

However, Tim Cook did mention that Apple TV sales tripled in Q1 '09 compared to Q1 '08.

Based on Cook's comments and information from suppliers, analysts have pegged the original Apple TV at 6.6 million units at the end of 2009.

During the Q2 '10 conference call, Tim Cook again mentioned sales of the original Apple TV were up 34 percent over 2009.

So, they've probably sold more than 2.2 per year if you use Piper-Jaffrey's math. The original Apple TV was on the market for some 3.5+ years. To keep this in perspective, it took Roku years to achieve 1 million units on all their models combined.

If those figures are accurate then initial sales for the new Apple TV are only up by 80% which is very surprising. I was expecting them to sell 4 or 5 times as many with the new price point and extra features (for the US market anyway).

Perhaps we'll see a big boost in the Q1 results as I'd expect the Apple TV to have been a popular Xmas present this year.

Why do they always have to say exactly "1 Million" ?

Why never 995,00

or

or why not 1 Million and 25?

Their press office needs a kick up the ass, what difference does it make? We're not that stupid
