Told ya, Vision Pro is a failure and even Apple is admitting it. I even found M2 Vision Pro sold for only $1500 on eBay.

No one needs the new one just get the new strap, many YouTubers like Brian tong said the new 120hz and 10% more render isn’t noticeable at all so there’s no need to get the new model

The sentiment over the AVP during launch was so much different than it is now.

Any negative talk back then would yield pitch forks and torches, not so much anymore.

It’s probably for hygiene/sanitary reasons since it’s on your face. Kind of why they don’t do trade ins for in ear headphones.
true. I would never buy a used one since even the core device has fabric around the lenses for some absurd reason... which I noticed Samsung even copied

No trade-ins because barely no one is buying this product.

Apple obviously desperately needs to get rid of inventory and is hoping a new chip and a nice fabric band will help them shift it.

Oh wait, what's this new Samsung XR thing at half the price?

I wish more App devs would take an interest in this product. it's got potential... but no "killer app" yet.
Why? Even Apple is not interested. Where are the iWorks apps? The Pro apps? Or even the Invite app?

If Apple can’t be bothered making apps that reflect the true capabilities spatial computing, then why should other devs bother?

It feels the same to me. People gasped at $3,500 and most rational people saw the writing on the wall. It's a face computer that blocks you from the outside world. It has no killer app. It was hard to defend back then and it still is.

That makes no sense. There is a completely removable and throw away-able component that is required. You might as well say Apple Watches can’t be traded in. Or only phones that have never been brought into a restroom can be traded in.

It’s because there isn’t a reseller who will clean it up and sell it, or a recycler who can salvage usable parts.

I phoned to ask whether I could skip and save money on the light seal, since I could re-use the one from M2 and was told in a follow-up email:
Thanks for the call earlier. This is just to confirm we don’t currently have the option to sell the standalone AVP unit, after confirming with our Operations Team.
You are most welcome to visit us for a product Demo though to experience the M5. If you’d like to book in just let us know.
So it is impossible to save on anything. You have to buy the whole hog even though you already have other parts and anyone wanting your M2 model would probably need to get a light seal that fits them.

DO NOT BUY EXPENSIVE FIRST GEN TECH.

I’m glad Apple built this. They’ll need to be there if/when this kind of thing matters.

But it’s still mostly useless to almost everyone.

I'm not defending Apple as this does seem to be kind of a slap in the face of their early adopters. But I can see a scenario where this makes sense as people who want to upgrade would then sell their original AVP to someone else, helping to grow the user base. With so few users to begin with, this could really help grow the market (%wise).

That said, I still think it's a bad call/ bad look.

I don’t think this is really that big of a deal. Secondary markets for Apple devices are always higher than Apple’s trade in values on products anyway. The only reason to choose Apple’s trade-in system is convenience.

I had a negative sentiment back when it launched I knew it wouldn't do well despite all the hype but now it's kinda scary realizing how Apple doesn't read the market very well it's almost like they don't know what people really need.

What a joke. Even Apple doesn't want that product back. I suppose the wealthy consumers who bought the original $3500 AVP can easily fork over another $3500 for the updated version.

Apple (not Apple Computer that company died about 10 years ago) is a company of PURE mediocrity. they lost interest in making great products and have instead turn us in to their products! I spent my entire career in tech and for a good part of it supporting apple users. Most users loved (past tense capt. obvious) their iPhone, iPads and Macs... that is not true by any stretch of their imagination any more!

I for one have stoped getting anything new and for the most part have decided what is behind us was better and so I will stay there till... some guys in a garage come of with something better! Hay Ive, you seeing this?

Apple is a company I choose to NO longer pay tribute too
