Looking at this image, I'm starting to think there is no iWatch. But rather, a series of iRings. One for each finger.

Just starting to? Some of us have been saying since day one that a "watch" doesn't exist.

----------

So alleged app store ecosystem on an alleged device. Got it.

Allegedly. We are all under suspicion just for reading this stuff.

----------

Well, I haven't seen anything to suggest it wouldn't be. While you can't trust all the rumors and sources, they seem to all be in agreement it will be a watch.

No rumors point to anything of the kind, if you look at the rumors themselves instead of the steady stream of bad mockups published by people who don't have a shred of substance or logic to support them.

News for you -- privacy meltdown started a few years back. Go Google yourself. ;)

Apple security issues? Why call out Apple when Google, MS are no where near .1000 batting avg when it comes to security? Yes, security is a huge problem now, but it's industry-wide. Also unsure how an iWatch is less secure than a vanilla Smart Phone or computer w/ no additional security measures taken by its owner. If you have your phone's (any phone, not just iPhone) BT turned on you can be hacked.

I didn't mention the "others" because they are always under attack where Apple had fewer problems in the past. I wasn't singling them out intentionally. :)

Apple is about to explode on the world again me thinks.

Yup! And it looks like it will be far more than a stupid wrist band. Chances are it will be a whole series of wearable sensors to detect every body operation and function, from heart, brain, diabetes, and metabolism, to alcohol, oxygen, fat, water, stress, and orgasm levels, all in a simple handy easy to use device.

I see a big invasion of privacy meltdown coming.

Every move you make will be tracked. All your vitals tracked.

Apple security issues are really getting bad. Just imagine all this information in the wrong hands.

I know! I can't imagine someone knowing what my heartrate is when I exercise....

If you're concerned about being tracked, ditch your smartphone. Every move we make is watched these days. We're past the point of no return.

As for vitals in the "wrong hands" - I really am at a loss as to what a criminal would be able to do with my blood pressure and other vitals.....

From a very reliable source- https://www.macrumors.com/2014/04/09/iwatch-2014-predictions/

And he could also be wrong. But I'd trust an analyst with a great track record over a few speculative consumers.

All he really says is it's a product with "two sizes and a fashionable appearance." Everything beyond that, including the form it will take and its functionality, are essentially complete wild guesses, and not on Kuo's part. What's happening here is that every rumor we've heard is automatically superimposed on a "watch" form factor, which leads to a series of hilariously bad concepts. My point being, not giving credit to Apple for originality is a dangerous assumption.

Samsung just stopped all their Gear factories and is building new ones to copy the idea.

i don't see this ever looking like a regular watch. if you read some of the rumors why would you need fixable components for a standard looking watch??

i REALLY hope it looks like the concept design in this article. i'd like it to be a bit wider though. and please make it induction charging so it can be well sealed and at least extremely water resident!!

if it looks like the mock-up i'm in line for a day one iwatch!!

Can't wait!
If Apple enables the detection and possibly prevention of heart attacks then they will have far more reaching effects than just transforming the music industry and phone industries.

They won't. Any more than they have become an ISP, cell company, cable company, record label and so on.

Apple isn't going to spend time getting into medical research and development. There are tons of companies doing that. One of them will create and via Apple APIs an app to go with.

That is Apple's strength. They don't try to be all for every one. They create tools for others to do whatever they can do.

Totally. Agree.
And like history has shown, we're all missing the boat on what's coming. It's not just a watch, people. It's the (re)birth of an industry.

Time will tell. :p

And what industry would that be? Health Insurance? ---when big bro decides to fwd this health data to insurance companies so they can start implementing targeted rate hikes.

First we have socialized medicine crammed down our throats...then all the sudden the biggest technology firm in the world has a stroke of "genius" to create a medical tracking device....come on people connect the dots

If you haven't already jumped into the fitness band game, why on earth would you do so now?
Sit tight. Wait on Apple. You'll be glad you did.

No reason at all. I could be waiting a long time for Apple. Historically Apple has not been quick to give what their customers tend to think they want.

I could not agree with you more. The health industry is HUGE and growing.

Everyone cares about their health... even those who say they don't... should.

Apple is about to give them a great reason to start paying attention.

The elbow from the sky is incoming...

No they don't.

People buy health items when they see fancy adverts that promise buy this and have a 6 pack in 4 weeks with no effort.
Then they get stuffed in the back of the cupboard.

Yes, it would be nice if everyone was into health.
But just look at the average American's body size and now, the UK's body size also and say how health is at the top of the list.

Getting fat is what people are doing in mass reality, and no iWatch is going to change that.

According to 9to5Mac:

Our sources are also saying that Apple has been exploring potential acquisitions of various medical device companies in recent months, including full-fledged medical product firms that are not smartphone/wearable device focused.
It's silly for any of us to say what Apple will or won't do.

It's silly for any of us to say what Apple will or won't do.

I wouldn't go quite that far. I feel quite safe in predicting that Apple won't release dull or derivative products, and that what they do release will surprise nearly everyone.

Concerning medical devices, Apple is a member of the consortium that bought Kodak's IP out of bankruptcy, some of which was in medical imaging. That ball has been in play for a couple of years now.

If the insurance companies are in a position to take advantage of this information then we, obviously, have not had socialized medicine 'crammed down our throats'.

"Good things come to those who wait."

The issue is always that American are the least tolerant, least patient population on Earth. ;) :apple:

If you mean we have a short attention span and will shun a product overnight for no real reason other than something else looks shinier, agreed. Otherwise it's nonsense to clump all Americans in the same check box for every possible category one could infer from your statement.
