Of all of Apple's service expansions, this is actually my favorite and the one I see having the most long term promise.

That said, it's really embarrassing for Apple how poorly these have performed. Tim Cook has a lot of strengths, but if there was one thing Steve Jobs would have been absolutely perfect for, it would have been extending Apple's reach into the original production and distribution of art and media. It's a real shame we didn't get to see what that would have looked like—especially Apple TV+.

They have 125 million subscribers. These Publishers want News+ to make them as wealthy as the AppStore does for the top tier developers. It's a subsidy to their print markets, not a transition from print.

I tell it what I am interested in and it shows me things from Fake News. Tim Cook's politicization of the Apple universe it a tragedy. To miss-quote... If it isn't Hardware it is Crap!

Conservatism is a mental disorder and it's bane of existence in power is near its end in the US. Enjoy the tears in Nov 2020.

125 million monthly active users for News (prob includes News+). They had 85 million monthly active users around the time Apple News+ came out, and converted ~200,000 at the time which is a not so great conversion rate.

I don't necessarily think that publishers felt it would make them as wealthy as top tier Appstore developers. I think Apple upsold the value of News+ to those publishers, and that's why they are disappointed with the results. Granted, they should've known better.

Actually, I think Steve would have had the wherewithal to stay the f--- out.

Tim thinks just because you throw a bunch of money at something you can be good at it.
Also marketing to the "WHAT THE KIDS ARE TO THESE DAYS CROWD" (I'm a millennial myself) I can't stand Apple's marketing under Tim crook.

They may want to start by making the app useful first, instead of preventing me from fully customizing the content and feeding me a pile of BS daily based on what *they* think I should read. I don't need that same crap in audio.

Agreed. News+ May have had better initial strength if it was launched with the iPad introduction.
