You're saying the Alienware that has 3 USB-A 3.0 ports and a thunderbolt 3 port...Macbook Pro has 4 USB-C ports where all are Thunderbolt 3 capable (so essentially you have 4x thunderbolt 3 ports). Not sure how Alienware is considered "more"

Maybe I'm not communicating effectively. With the Mac, we would need a hub or adapter to use the RED card reader, the USB mouse. I don't want to buy a pro laptop and have adapters running off of it. And, again, Thunderbolt can daisy chain up to 6 so I'm not sure why you keep hyping that the Macbook Pro has 4.

Do you know how many Thunderbolt cables you'll find at Walmart in the middle of the night? Thunderbolt mice? It's a hassle. I'm on-site at a client's and they come up to me with a USB mouse or a USB thumb drive?

Not sure how having fewer interface choices is "more".

I’m saying the physical TB4 ports on the Mac is 4. And I’m not sure why you’re bringing up daisy chain since not all TB3 devices have a daisy chain port (look at egpus). And plenty of TB3 devices have a USB-A port.

And plenty of pros on site use the trackpad or wireless mouse. They dont want to be fiddling with wires.

You’re being a bit confusing on where your taking this and combined that with the delay in responses, this conversation has gone off the rails.

What’s pathetic is your claiming that you can’t connect the iPhone to a MBP that only has USB-C ports.

Why do you continue to post this lie, I already corrected you several weeks ago:

View attachment 824469

It is NOT a lie. You cannot connect an iPhone 6, 7 or 8 unless you buy a cable.

We all know Cable exists. That does not mean that Apple has no USB 3 ports to connect all the recent realeased iPhones that did NOT come with USB-C to lighting cable. So the only one that is posting lies is you.

Here’s what you said, and it’s an outright lie:

It is pathetic that in 2019 you cannot connect the most Apple sold product, the iPhone to your own computer.
That shows, the incompetence of Apple

You’ve made similar statements a month ago: “you cannot even connect the best selling product from the same company (iPhone)” and “It is quite pathetic that you cannot connect Apple best selling product to your own computer.”

I called you out for lying then as well. But then you repeat the same lie three weeks later. Stop it.

Let’s be 100% clear: What you just said above: “You cannot connect an iPhone 6, 7 or 8 unless you buy a cable” is true.

What you said before:
  • “It is pathetic that in 2019 you cannot connect the most Apple sold product, the iPhone to your own computer”
  • “you cannot even connect the best selling product from the same company (iPhone)”
  • “It is quite pathetic that you cannot connect Apple best selling product to your own computer.”
are outright lies that I’ve called you out on before.

I hope you can remember the difference between not being able to connect at all vs. simply needing to use the proper cable.

You are sad. Those are not lies since iPhone users that own iPhones that do NOT come with the "proper USB-C to lighting cable CAN NOT connect to a Macbook, unless you BUY the proper cable. Having to buy an extra cable to connect your own iphone to another Apple product shows how bad and so out of touch Apple design team has become.
Regardless of what you think, it is my opinion (and many many Apple users) that not including a single USB-A was a mistake.

Stop trying to deflect. The issue isn’t whether or not failing to include a USB-A port on MBP or a USB-C cable in the box was a mistake.

The ONLY issue is your continuing to post that the MBP cannot be connected to the iPhone. These statements are 100% false:
  • “It is pathetic that in 2019 you cannot connect the most Apple sold product, the iPhone to your own computer”
  • “you cannot even connect the best selling product from the same company (iPhone)”
  • “It is quite pathetic that you cannot connect Apple best selling product to your own computer.”
If you continue to post false statements like those above, I’ll continue to call them out as the lies that they are.

Let’s be clear: I have no problem whatsoever with your posting the truth, as you did above:
iPhones that do NOT come with the "proper USB-C to lighting cable CAN NOT connect to a Macbook, unless you BUY the proper cable.”

Yes. True. You need the proper USB-C cable to connect iPhones to Macs that only have USB-C ports. That statement is true, and we’ve never had a disagreement about that.

But when you post that USB-C Macs and iPhones CANNOT be connected, I’m going to call you out for lying. Because that is absolutely, 100% false—and you know it.

Dismissing huge margins by citing stuff like R&D etc ... meanwhile, just look at the actual profits (profit, not revenue) they have according to their own earning reports. The whole argument falls apart when looking at the actual numbers.

Example: NOTHING can justify the ridiculous SSD upgrade prices (even with same performance metrics) but pure greed. Greed which begins to damage their image.

I don’t totally agree with you. The so called “margins” does not include R&D cost, and that’s a legit argument. Apple does have a huge R&D budget. And it’s unfair not to take it into account for cost of a product. It easy to compare against Samsung or Huawei, where they just copy whatever idea comes out of Apple.

Also, we complain about Apple a lot, in terms of after-sales support. But the reality is that they have some of the best warranty anywhere. And we get free software upgrade years after a product sales. I just don’t see this kind of support anywhere. The cost of all these has to go somewhere.

And price of SSD and memory upgrade? I know where you are coming from. I hate it too. But I think the rationale is that, it’s a luxury tax for the rich(er), who can afford it. And it’s a way to lower the cost of entry, for the poor(er). Otherwise, to make the same amount of profit, they will have to raise the price of the base model.

You may say then, that they should make less money. But may I remind you that it’s a publicly traded company that needs to answer to stockholders. :)
