Back on launch day for the iPhone 13 last month, a number of Apple Card users had difficulties placing orders for their devices, with many of those users ultimately resorting to different forms of payment in order to ensure their orders went through in a timely fashion.

As shared by a number of MacRumors readers, Apple today sent out emails to affected customers, letting them know that they will be credited with the 3% Daily Cash they would have earned on their iPhone 13 purchases even though they were unable to complete their purchases with their Apple Cards.
You successfully completed your iPhone pre-order with a payment method other than Apple Card. We understand that your initial purchase attempt with Apple Card was declined and you didn’t earn 3% Daily Cash.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced and want to make it up to you. We are providing you a credit for the Daily Cash on the initial payment of your iPhone 13. You’ll see this appear as a Balance Adjustment in the Wallet app. This will also appear on your October monthly statement.

If you would like to continue earning Daily Cash back on future iPhone payments with your Apple Card, please visit citizensoneloan.com to update your payment method.

If you have any questions, contact an Apple Card Specialist.
The 3% Daily Cash credits are already going through, with users able to check the Wallet app to confirm their credit has been received.

I actually had to look up and search exactly what "daily cash" was. So looks like for the price of a phone you would get enough cash for a modest lunch?

Honestly for the hassle / stress, Goldman Sachs should have offered up 4-8% for loyal customers who chose their product as opposed to cards that had no issues during purchase day. There was a lot of vitriol over the CC issue on launch day, the PR move was nice, but I am sure they could have afforded to sweeten the deal a touch.

Modest lunch? More like a venti drink at Starbucks.

No idea, I guess it depends on which phone you purchased. The article states 3%, which would be ~ $36 for a 512 Pro Max which I would be after If I had ordered one this round.

If paid in full. We talking about those on the Apple upgrade program who missed the 3% on the extra month to upgrade+first month payment on new phone+sales tax. Mine was $212. Paid in full is another thing.

Gotcha.

Out of my field of experience as I haven't ever upgraded that way. Thanks for clarifying.

Does buying the preorder with another change the payment that is used on the loan?

or the card that is charged for the loan is different.

Just go to your citizenloan loan online and change it to Apple Card. I did this right after I receive email from citizen with new loan number. Noticed even then my first payment of the 13PM was charged to the Apple Card. So did get the 3% regardless.

Sweet, I got my $3.02 for my iPhone 13 Pro 256GB and $1.95 for my wife’s iPhone 13 Mini 128GB. Now I can sleep!
Nice, that’s just enough for a warm drink to have with all the “individuals” with the same phones and MacBooks in a local coffee shop 🤳👨‍💻👩‍💻🧑‍💻

The original quote was a joke. You get about $35 back on a 13 Pro 256GB and if you add AppleCare, a case and a power adapter it’s close to $40 depending on the tax in your state. That’s actually decent money.

Huh, I got a credit even though I did eventually order the phone with my Apple card. It seems like they gave me a credit for purchase on a different card that I ended up canceling. I’ll take it though for all the hassle.

And if you were affected by this but received no communication from Apple and you try to contact them via chat they are useless! Goldman Sachs sends you to Apple and then Apple sends you right back to Goldman Sachs. I've never had a good experience via chat, they are useless and ignorant all around! They might as well outsource the whole thing to India or elsewhere it'll be just as good.

I know. I was just taking “jabs” @ people, but it seems like a sensitive topic so I’ll step away.
