Back on topic, I don't see any statement from Apple coming out this late on a Friday afternoon.

Really? Even though they are getting terrible PR on just about every major news outlet as of this afternoon?

I work in IT, when **** goes wrong, you stay and work, weekends don't matter.

I have a marginal 3G signal at my house. 1-3 bars is typical, and the "death grip" will result in the phone completely losing the signal every time. However, a mile or so away, I have 5 bars and the death grip does not result in lost bars. I have not tested speed throughput.

On a less serious note, here's my temporary fix for the issue.

Amen. This sort of problem would be an "all hands on deck" event where I work. Those who can't contribute directly to a fix would still be working for moral support, to help test proposed fixes, and fetching food.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at Apple HQ right now.

Thanks for the laugh!

I have the same situation, inside with the death grip, I lose signal but outside or driving in a car it doesn't happen. This whole thing is so weird.

Press Release:

We at Apple wanted to express our deepest regrets for the outlandish remarks made by our ex-CEO, Steve Jobs. We have since discovered that he has a serious drug/drinking problem and has been admitted to the Betty Ford Clinic. The fact is the iPhone 4 was sabotaged by Android fanboys, who infiltrated the factory in China, and removed the small piece of tape that was supposed to cover the outer housing of the antenna at the point of interference (the so-called left hand death grip point). Rumors are that the team was led by Jason Chen. We are currently seeking him for questioning. Rest assured, the next batch of iPhone 4’s be up to the standards that Apple has always delivered with the piece of tape properly in place. We also regret any trauma this may have caused our left hand customers.

Guess we aren't getting a release tonight. Already 5:40 Pacific Time. My guess is it will be Monday morning.
