I suggest that the new mouse would sport horizontal/vertical scrolling, a Agilent optical sensor for higher DPI and improved precision (eg. S2020-as used in the MX1000)

I thought about this two-button mouse thingy over the weekend (crazy, huh?).

I won't be getting one. I've done so many countless hours of repetitive control clicking and keyboard shortcutting that it would be a whole new learning curve for me, no need to bother. And yes, I'm one of those purists who consider the one-button mouse part of being a Mac-head. Call me crazy (you will anyway :D ).

BUT

I do think it would be a good move on Apple's part as many long-time die-hard users end up buying a second mouse to replace the one-button jobby.

Please send all of your one-button mice to:

Hey crazy( ;) ) 40,000 MR members / 75% don't like using one-button mice / If 10% of them send you their mouse that's 3,000 mice. What are you gonna do with them all?

(from this site)

75 mice is all it'd take... 76 would top it though, unless you count the mouse buttons, in which case you'd need 151 mice. however, optical beats rollers!

We'd vote him president of the "Abandoned One-Button Users Support Group", and he'd kindly share his spoils to replace our stocks as they die. :)

*bump*

wasn't sure where to put this..

recently i've been helping a friend who is a brilliant illustrator/sculptor [with an intense technical mind] learn how to use a computer for graphic purposes [photoshop, scanning etc]..

i always wondered why he didn't get into computers, as it's so up his alley [so to speak] but never really asked..

well, we were working on some scanned pics of his on a PC [i know] and he casually mentioned that being left handed he found using the mouse difficult and a lightbulb went off in my head..

if he had had mac experience early he would have found no trouble in using the one button mouse left handed..

maybe this is one reason why macs are beloved by the creative community [a generalisation i know]..

just a thought in favour of the old one button..

that is all..

:)

There are plenty of non-Apple, two-button mice available that are symmetrical so that they are as comfortable in your left hand as in your right. I think most left-handed people use one of those. Of course, I've also heard that many left-handed people learn to use right-handed mice because that's the way 90+% of computers are set up. Still, you can tell Apple has thought about left-handed people with the Mighty Mouse and Tiger, because it's symmetrical and can be easily configured so that either side acts as a right click.

Most of the left-handed people I know use their right hands to operate mice, and they tell me that they've gotten used to it. Just thought I'd mention that.
