a) I don't think so
b) I'm guessing it's reliant on that to work, but maybe it uses some other magic
c) Yeah sure, no good for that - but still very useful to find a parked car
i'll connect to it via bt next time, 'cause right now nothing comes up when i search for 'car'. and thanks — i didn't know this was a thing)

Should’ve had a hole in it.
Exactly this, I despise people buying these AirTags without a hole in it, if few people buy them Apple would have been forced to rethink their designs.
Nowadays most people can't think straight, just...wanna have this instead of thinking first, sorry, that's the way I see it, hell, quite a few colleagues of mine are the same.

Did you know Apple Maps on the iPhone keeps track of where you parked your car?

You just search for 'car' and it'll show you - presumably it uses the location that your phone's Bluetooth disconnected from the car as you left it.
One difference is that the maps options used GPS and the spatial resolution of GPS is coarser than what is used by Apple Tags. GPS can get really confused underground.

It's worse, people buying these, no-one should buy these, which would force Apple to include a hole in the AirTags at no extra cost.
I only have one and it's in a pocket in my laptop case. I like that it's smaller than the other tags. If I got another it would go in luggage and again, no hole needed. I guess there are different use cases.

i think it's poor taste to vent about this in airtag keyring threads — there are specific airtag ones :)))
I disagree, the big issue is Apple's greed not to include a hole.

Apple bragging about how green they are, yet here we are, being environment unfriendly by not having a hole in the AirTags.
It's a vald reason to vent ones opinion in this thread here.

I bought a four pack for the family and have one attached to my car keys. Number of times I have lost car keys in my life: 0. So more than likely just carrying extra crap. What else are you guys attaching tags to?
I was thinking of attaching one to my mind. That way, I can easily answer the question "have you lost your mind?"

I think Apple is doing this wrong, the airtags should be hidden. If the wrong sort of person finds something with a visible airtag, first thing they’ll do is separate them from it so they won’t be found.
Not only is airtag designed to be easy to see, it also plays an annoying sound with the speaker whenever a stranger moves it (once it has been separated from the owner's phone for a while).

And if they're smart, they'll scan the AirTag and factory reset it, then use it themselves or sell it. You can even do that with a web browser on any NFC equipped phone (eg android).

They are definitely not designed to protect against theft. AirTags are for lost items.

It's a trade-off Apple made to make it more difficult to abuse someone by tracking everywhere they go.

That's the biggest use case for them. I can't wait for them to make a sticker version. I have a Tile stick on my AirPods case and on my Apple TV remotes. Super handy but I would rather have airtags with stickers instead
I think I saw that Nomad has a holder with an adhesive back. I was looking on their website because they advertised a holder that made it into a very thick "card" to in theory fit in billfolds.

I’ve got the California poppy Watch let her strap and the MagSafe card wallet in the same colour. It’s a really nice shade and has aged well in both cases. Matches mustard Converse beautifully!
i'm glad you like it, obviously this is purely a question of personal preference. none of these color appeal to me, but that's perfectly fine — i'm not a fan of the design anyway.

They won’t be able to and no, you can’t (factory reset someone else AirTag), unless you know the iCloud password of the owner.
