Since US users can't facetime over 3G this is useless.

Why? Is your mac hooked to the internet over 3G or something. Actually pretty useful since I doubt many people are using 3G to connect their macs to the internet.

Works like a charm...

Downloaded it to our iMac (2007 model) and it works great, even from a notoriously poor office wifi connection. Called from iPhone to iMac and vice versa. I agree it should have been integrated into iChat, but it looks pretty solid for a beta...
Peace be with you.

I'm having a problem with activating expose all of sudden after installing Facetime Beta. Now my shortcut minimizes all of my windows into the upper left corner with a similar transition like minimizing windows to the dock. I've tried changing the shortcut to another key, but that didn't fix it. Only after uninstalling Facetime and rebooting my system did it start working again. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or willing to try and replicate it on their machine?

how to call from iPhone to a Mac

I can't find out how to make a FaceTime call from an iPhone to a Mac. How can you enter an email address from the phone's keypad?

Works fine on my network. But need over 3G at some point. Come on carriers!!! It not so much bandwidth on the end of the day. I wonder if jailbrake work for it. I decided to not jailbrake iPhone 4 but now I am thinking about it again.

This new facetime to mac only works if you have iOS 4.1 in your device (from what I heard).
if you have 4.1, there isn't a jailbreak for it yet. Therefore you cannot use your facetime over 3G.

It really should have been integrated into iChat. Apple keeps writing stupid software.

I don't like that it works with address book for the contacts and that you cannot add a contact right from the facebook app.

It's also a little CPU intensive.

I think you meant Facetime app.

:D

The hell. All over the place i see people with the problem they can't sign in. IS THERE A SOLUTION YET? I can't sign in either :s

I can't sign in either. I tried disconnecting ethernet, using wifi, restart, peerguardian is closed. Tried for 2 days. Now I'll try just walking away from the macbook.

One thing I noticed...

If you use a mobile me address. Use: username@me.com
Do not log in using a @mac.com address

Once you have logged-in, you can change the preferred email address to @mac

C.

Its your router. Try to connect to a different network (neighbors unsecured if you can) and then back to yours if successful on the other network.

For some reason this worked for me and others.

^^^^ What type of router would cause this?

I still can't sign in either. Totally confused by this.

I started a thread about it, so everyone can discuss it in the same place:

How stupid that it only works for 4.1. Not everyone needs to update, especially JB users.

I know there is a JB for 4.1. It's just having to go through the process of setting the iPhone as "new," reinstalling the JB, and then reinstalling my JB apps.

I installed FaceTime on my Mac today and I am far from excited. FaceTime must be integrated to iChat. Everything else is plain stupid. FaceTime doesn't show presence status information of my contacts. It just displays all my address book and it offers no way of filtering out contacts that have no FaceTime..Apple seems to think that everybody has FaceTime...

False. Limera1n and greenpois0n have been out for almost two weeks and pwnage tool 4.1 was released yesterday. So yes, you can use FaceTime over 3g.

I installed the beta and was quite excited to use my iphone 4 to call my iMac and vice-versa.

However this doesn't seem to be working well for me and I cant work out why. It connects doing it both way fine but in both cases after about 20-30 seconds it says FaceTime failed and ends. I've tried rebooting my router, resetting my phone network settings but I can't seem to get it to hold a call for longer than this time and it always drops off after the same length of time with every attempt.

This was the first time i've used facetime as i've never had the opportunity to try it iPhone4 to iPhone4 so it may be nothing to do with the actual Mac beta. My iPhone4 is running os4.1 and is NOT JB

Does anyone have any ideas ??? Cheers
