"recycling robot" AKA you will not be allowed to repair your own device while we substitute human jobs with robots
 
And allowing devices to be repaired in the first place would save so much more...
What about the cost of energy required to manufacture such a robot? Plus this robot seems to extract mainly plastics from screen, aluminium from the case. All the precious rare-earth elements hidden in semiconductors are not retrieved. Naturally this is difficult and this is why repair will always outperform recycling.

Then this has an obvious flaw: many of these iphones would benefit more from being repaired, and this is something that Apple does not allow. Actually it looks more like destroying repairable products so that customers had an excuse to buy a new one.

As far as efforts for the planet go, they power their facilities with renewable energy.
