I have to laugh. If this commercial came from Microsoft or Samsung, all these "brilliant!" comments would be "ridiculous". And you all know it too.

Very nice. I too saw it during the football game. My immediate and visceral reaction: I've got to get an iPad.

Nope. You're laughing at your own lack of imagination. Microsoft hasn't done a good ad since "Start Me Up."

One of Apple's best ads in a while. It demonstrates a wide array of different uses and emphasis the productivity capability of the device. I personally don't like it when companies try to score points from competitors in ads. Much better when you set out your own positive case, which I feel Apple have done well with a powerful Ad.

A+ from me.

Nope, I go by the history of forums like these. Personally, I prefer and own mostly Apple tech, but that doesn't mean I drink the Apple koolaid. The bias of the typical Apple fan is hilarious. Insult an Apple product and they act like you just insulted their mother.

By the way, I have a B.A. in Media Study, with concentrations in film and video production. So my "imagination" is perfectly fine.

This ad and the pencil one, make a point of how much of a visionary Steve Jobs was.

Many doubted him and Apple when the iPad was announced. "A big iPod touch" they shouted.

Much like the pencil, the iPad was born as a blank slate. A tool in which people's imaginations defined its potential.

Nobody could of foresaw what that rectangular piece of aluminium and glass would do for so many. Except for Steve Jobs. When I see these ads, I can picture that these images were in his mind when he stood on stage introducing the iPad.

I think a lot of people until recently saw the iPad as a lesser innovation when compared to the iPhone and the Mac. However it seems that it took a little extra time for it to be seen of the same or even higher esteem.

That's because good advertising for a bad product is false advertising. That's what we don't like.

In an act of travesty capitalism meets poetry.

Just curious, is this the first time you have watched a television commercial?

It isn't like Apple is breaking some sort of established law for advertisements.

You obviously hate capitalism so I am not quite sure what is the point in bothering to comment on a website devoted to news about such a large company heavily invested in capitalist pursuits.

This ad is reminiscent of this abhorrent Levi's ad:

I hate how a specific brand of pants is equated with freedom and embracing life. They're pants. And while I'm hesitant to say that the same doesn't apply to Apple's commecrial, I do think it's more apporopriate to cast such a powerful product in this light.

If that were a real degree then you'd have no excuse. Sorry, but this is a very good ad. If you're going to argue bias you need to actually find an example of bias, right? Since, this isn't a case of Apple lovers loving a bad ad, maybe you could link us to a good MS ad where most MR comments are negative? I'll hold my breath for that.

Seeing the two trekking in the mountains got me excited to use an iPad. I do a lot of snowshoeing in North Western Ontario, where I'm often out of cellular range - so the assisted GPS doesn't work for me.

Does anyone know if there's a protective case with GPS available for the iPad Air?

GPS works fine without a cellular connection. Any offline mapping app will work.

"But there's not enough RAM!"

says the engineer high atop of a wind turbine who longs for the days when he had to lug his 8 lb. Panasonic Toughbook to the top of the world to do his job.

Which is what we can probably expect from fandroids. Obviously, it's great, and your point is anyone who it isn't aimed at will be in denial.
