twice in a row.

I bought a 21.5 imac last summer three days before they launched the new one, so sent it back.

Finally bought its replacement three days ago. Now they're doing it again.

Can't be bothered this time.

Give me a non glossy display option and I'll buy it!
Non glossy + 24" would be simply perfect.

You don't need to keep taking computers back you know. You could try and be happy with what you already own. Also why did you buy it if you knew there were new ones on the horizon anyway?

Also, if one were to buy a Mac within two weeks prior to a new model you're entitled to just take it back for the new model, or at least that's how it used to work.

I agree with the others. Bring back the 24" model!!!

I really don't get what the big deal is, even though I have a 24" model myself...come on, you guys are complaining about having three extra inches of workspace? Unless you live in a cubicle, this should be no issue AT ALL.

I am definitely looking forward to buying a 27" one in replacement of my 2008 Aluminum 24", just for the extra horsepower, I/O and better GPU (not that mine isn't wonderful already)...just bring me SB goodness, 1 or 2Tb HDs, perhaps a small SDD for the quickest boot, TB port and a higher-than-average GPU...glossy is fine by me as well :D

I stopped buying iMacs the day they went gloss. I now have a bunch of minis with the older Matte Cinema Displays. As simple as that — I put my money where my mouth is. If I couldn't get these, I would buy other branded displays.

When Steve Jobs made a comment a couple of years ago about Apple's customers saying they preferred gloss (or something like that) I wrote to Apple to say that at least one customer doesn't prefer gloss and why, and there is a pretty vocal group of Apple customers who share my sentiments. At least we were given the option on the MacBook Pros. I hate having to pay extra on an already expensive machine, but that's what I've done with my new just-ordered MBP. It's one small and expensive vote for usability to prevail over eye-candy. Sigh.

While I agree disagree with you as it relates to dsiplay preference (I prefer the glossy display over the matte display), I 100% agree with you in principal. Since Apple has customers who want the matte or anti-gloss option, they ought to make it available--simple as that. This way, everyone can be happy. If you want matte, you should be able to get it just as I'm able to get the glossy screen that I like.

(Plus, if they went to all matte, then the matte displays would weird up against the glossy 27" Cinema Displays, IMO.)

I'm with you. I personally like the 27" size, although I wouldn't complain if they introduced a 30" model. :D

Please!

I really hope they come out! These with the addition of the new app store is going to be amazing! Can you imagine Angry birds on this new setup!?

Also cant wait to try Cata WoW on one of these! <3

Finally the imac touch will be available

I saw and got my hands on a possible prototype IMac that had a touchable screen and a smug free screen. It also had the earlier uncoded virtual keyboard in the Lion OS. though it was only a prototype but a very realistic one for production. I believe it to be the IMac I and my father both got our hands on earlier this year.:apple:

smug free screen? Apple will never eliminate smugness in its products! :)

happy former owner of a 27" i7 imac that was stolen last month. Looking forward to replacing it with this new one.

Ah.... I cry foul. Not real at all.

+1. 27" is a different AR. Its just like a wider 24". I have the same 24" you have, and can't wait to pick up the new 27" (hopefully larger even). I will probably hold out until Lion comes out and for the new SSDs to come down in price (not apple's).

As much as I wish it would happen, I doubt Apple has fully internalized that the glossy glass screens were a horrendous design decision. I bet is it'll be two more years until they will be forever phased out, along with the enormous black bezels on the majority of products. But Apple is typically slow in realizing their mistakes, no surprise given their successes.

Point well taken. You're probably right but i'm still hoping that they at least cut down that huge bezel. Also I would hope that they make that SSD standard.

exchange policy

I bought an iMac April 16. If apple releases a new model May 3rd, will they pity recent buyers and allow exchange/return for the new iMac????

You have until the 30th to return it with the 14 day return policy so I would return it now and just buy the new one when it comes out

I too bought a new imac on the 16th. After finding out about the refresh I took it back on the 21st, no questions asked but they knew why I was doing it. I would agree to take it back before the 30th and wait it out. You will kick yourself in the butt unless you are 100% satisfied already.

Tuesday was yesterday. QUICK! Create a new thread saying that the new iMacs will be here NEXT TUESDAY!
