Why would they make an 11 inch, 12 inch, 13 inch and 15 inch macbooks

to compete of course. we all know that size is all that matters. You have to have all the possibilities of exactly what folks want or they won't buy anything.

----------

like the i6 and i6+, a larger 12" ipad (regular, ios) and 12" ipad pro (with usb port(s), pressure sensitivity, stylus, OSX, etc) for about 2-3x the money would make sense.

the iPhone 6 and 6 plus are different sizes so they are a poor example. What you are saying with the iPad thing is making an iPhone 6 plus with basic specs like out of the 5S AND one like the current iPhone 6 plus with all better specs. Unlikely to happen with iPhones or iPads. IF, and I still say it's a highly unlikely if, they made a 12 inch iPad it would be a single model not both.

it's not THAT small a niche market. artists and musicians helped prop apple up when they were the underdog back in the day.

that was 15-20 years ago with computers. Times have changed, a lot. All those artists etc are not the only market and frankly if they still think they are that special to Apple they have other issues they need to deal with. They aren't. Apple made it rather clear when they cut Shake that the Pros were not their only market or even their main one anymore. When the iPad came out they repeated this train of thought by not making it 'for the pros' even though they could have ages ago

not to mention that many pros are using the current iPad sizes just fine. some even hype the small size as a major feature of why they use it

edit: and as far as steve jobs' opinion on styluses:

He never really gave one.

His opinion was about the current state of the 'smart' phone at the time that the iPhone was released. Those phones/pdas required the use of a stylus, if you lost it you were hosed in terms of using the smart features. He didn't want that. But contrary to popular belief he never said a word against using them if you wanted to. He never commanded that iOS be designed to make using one a ****** experience etc. And if someone had shown him that putting a giga level active digitizer on the iPad would be of benefit to the vast majority of users without jacking the price up to outrageous levels, even Steve would have done it (as would Tim if you can make the case)

The SP3 is far from the failures that were the first two, I know for a fact because I had the SP2 and now the SP3. It's an amazing device. Windows 8.1 was tailored made for the SP3 and anyone who owns one will tell you that. But hey, stay a slave to a company. That's fine with me.

Problems Apple ??

It's easy for Apple to put the blame on their own supplies when THEY arn't doing anything much themselves.

Not the first time this has happened, but obviously Apple has no concept how much volume is required here.

If Apple has issues, perhaps they can do better ?

I doubt that

It's like kid in the black of a cinema throwing spit-balls on the unsuspecting users below.

Even Foxconn's having issues... Not long now people, before everything comes tumbling down like dominoes.

This is what happens when your popular product.... make bigger/better products, and u pay the price.

How will Apple get out of this one ? Find out in my next post.... :)

Current events like the Nokia debacle?

I'm not concerned about Nokia. They are different from the surface team. There is no doubt that Microsoft makes mistakes. As does every company. (apple included just take a look at recent events). However the Surface pro 3 is not one of them.

I am not talking about the current pseudo Nokia but about the destruction of real Nokia.

This new rumor makes it a lock that it gets introduced on the 16th:D. This same leak happened for the 5.5 iPhone, rumor was it was going to be pushed to 2015 or at Least later in 2014. Plus we had no leaks of the 5.5, just as we have no leaks of the 12.9 iPad.

We got the 5.5 and now I'm sure we are getting the 12.9 plus iPad, not to mention someone found 3x iPad assets in the new beta:cool:

I'll even go out on limb and say we can preorder the thing on the 17th, now maybe deliver gets pushed to early November, but ready or not (like the 5.5) it's coming.

New iPad pro/plus will be 3072x2304 300dpi basically.

It does not matter if Microsoft made good products.

Hmmmm . . .

I'm as critical of MS as anyone, but they have made, and continue to make, some good products. To say otherwise is willful ignorance.

When I do use it as a tablet, it's to take notes with the included pen... and I can't see Apple changing their anti pen/stylus stance.
You can get styluses for the iPad. They're not fine tipped, but they work to a large extent. Some good apps out there to help with note taking. I personally like 'Notes Plus'
