Exactly, and if the current lineup of products are "built for Apple Intelligence" then what the f are the ones later this year and next year?? "Built for Real Apple Intelligence"
The marketing was a sham to begin with. I can’t believe they had the balls to market “Apple Intelligence” before any of it was even out….on top of a SLOW rollout …..now more and more delays.

That's mic drop for anyone defending Apple. Jobs would NOT have approved of this nonsense and lack of focus.
Seriously this is going to go down as the biggest blunder of Apple. Eventually they’ll cancel all of this nonsense. Next year they will have a new statement that they can’t figure it out and would rather not deliver it (after marketing their entire product lineup on it to get sales)

This is still Apple's biggest miss in many years. Stunning that a company with a pile of cash like theirs has such a bad AI offering.
Money can’t fix bad decisions. Some of the richest people on the planet are the most miserable. I miss when Apple was the underdog and made sure everything was as close to perfect as possible before even talking about it.

Is Apple still going to run those iPhone commercials that are all about Apple Intelligence, including personal intelligence?
Ohhh they know lawsuits are coming. They should probably cancel all advertising for Apple Intelligence …immediately. Which I’m guessing they have. I haven’t actually seen any commercials lately now that I think of it

Unless you wanted a screen that’s .2” taller than the previous several generations of the Pro Max, there was not a single reason to upgrade to the 16 series of phones.

Apple touted AI and camera control for the iPhone 16 series, and then will be releasing iOS 18.4, which will allow those on the 15 pro series phones to use camera AI control and every other AI feature anyways. The camera button is nearly pointless.

Features that were supposed to be coming out in early 2025 have been delayed til 2026.

Those that bought a 16 series phone between September and now were screwed out of money.

The shareholders and those who upgraded should sue Tim Cook personally for his stupidity.

When I look at the current iPhone I see this:

- Failed AI
- Ugly camera bump when the phone could have a thicker battery.
- iCloud software that needs to sync information better.
- A camera that doesn’t match up to the zoom levels of the S24 Ultra. The camera still stinks.

Don't forget Vision Pro :p
Could we see WWDC delayed?

Could we see iOS 19 etc delayed too?

Personally I would be ok with both outcomes. I’d rather have Apple focus on getting 18 right rather than having iOS 19 with barely anything in it ‘just because’.
I mean what are they even rumored to announce at WWDC this year, haven't heard much aside from camera app redesign... And I feel calling attention to their software at this point might not be the best move...

Not surprising... but this thread simply turned into another kind of dog whistle.

I remember feeling embarrassed when I was saying at the WWDC keynote that AI features would never come to iOS 18 because it’s too early and they are sleeping behind the wheel… and then at the end of the Keynote I ate my words as “Apple Intelligence” was announced. Funny how over time I was completely correct and nothing meaningful has actually come to light. Just ugly slop portraits nobody wants.

Honestly for those features, you need to rely on an LLM.
I was really surprised they thought they would be able to bring that to the current version of Siri.

So, now it makes more sense for me.

Apple is delaying some of the Apple Intelligence Siri features that it expected to release in iOS 18, an Apple spokesperson said in a statement to Daring Fireball.

Apple says that it is going to take longer than expected to roll out the more personalized Siri experience, and that these features will be rolled out "in the coming year."The personalized Siri features that Apple is talking about were demonstrated at WWDC when introducing iOS 18, and they were expected to come out in an update to iOS 18. The functionality includes personal context, onscreen awareness, and improved app integration. A quick summary:

Personal Context

With personal context, Siri will be able to keep track of emails, messages, files, photos, and more, learning more about you to help you complete tasks and keep track of what you've been sent.
  • Show me the files Eric sent me last week.
  • Find the email where Eric mentioned ice skating.
  • Find the books that Eric recommended to me.
  • Where's the recipe that Eric sent me?
  • What's my passport number?
Onscreen Awareness

Onscreen awareness will let Siri see what's on your screen and complete actions involving whatever you're looking at. If someone texts you an address, for example, you can tell Siri to add it to their contact card. Or if you're looking at a photo and want to send it to someone, you can ask Siri to do it for you.

Deeper App Integration

Deeper app integration means that Siri will be able to do more in and across apps, performing actions and completing tasks that are just not possible with the personal assistant right now. We don't have a full picture of what Siri will be capable of, but Apple has provided a few examples of what to expect.
  • Moving files from one app to another.
  • Editing a photo and then sending it to someone.
  • Get directions home and share the ETA with Eric.
  • Send the email I drafted to Eric.

Rumors suggested that Apple initially planned to introduce these features in iOS 18.4, but ahead of the first iOS 18.4 betas, there were reports that the functionality simply wasn't ready. Apple will debut an iOS 18.5 update after iOS 18.4, so we could see the new Siri features in that update, but it's possible we'll be waiting even longer. "In the coming year" is a bit vague, but it looks like the new Siri functionality will come sometime in the next 12 months.

Apple did already update Siri with a new Type to Siri feature, a refreshed look, ChatGPT integration, and more natural language understanding as part of its Apple Intelligence improvements, with more to come in the future.

Update: According to Reuters, the Apple Intelligence Siri features have been delayed until 2026.

Apple AI is awful, for example it’s slow or simply doesn’t understand what I want when other platforms do this with ease and with the improvements it’s still struggling with competitors.

For me delays are becoming common place and coming soon is the norm.

Never been so temped to try another platform than now.

Apple need to regain the trust. Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs.

This was expected. Simply put, this was way too optimistic timeline Apple put and they only finally realized it needs lots and lots of work.

One thing to note is that for most of feature competing AI already has, is all done on cloud. Apple isn’t like that as being privacy first, and they want all of personalized Siri features done entirely on device which is something unheard, especially for super complex AI like personalized assistance. Unfortunately Apple may have reached the first brick wall which may be neural engine as of now, still isn’t that powerful enough, and further improvements to Apple Silicon may be needed before rolling out more Apple Intelligence feature that is more complex.

By 2026, most of personalized Siri feature may only be available on latest devices simply put because it needs lot more computing power from neural engine and RAM from Apple Silicon.

I am researching Google pixels and seriously considering for the first time in my life leaving the Apple ecosystem. I don’t have a problem with them taking the time to get something right, but throwing artificial intelligence and other features in my face over and over again and promising them for my new iPhone 16 Pro, only to not deliver most of it, is unacceptable. If any of the features that they promised for iOS 18 come out later and don’t work with the 16 Pro, I will seriously consider leaving for good.

Apple is still advertising the Siri features on their website and aside from the tiny footnote they make it sound as if it is available right now. They are literally just false advertising features at this point… in the past they’ve come out and apologized and tried to make right when they made a mistake and this is one of those times they need to. False advertising, over promising and not delivering. Do the right thing Apple.

No kidding. I have parents who upgraded to the iPhone 16 specifically because "Siri is supposed to be better on the new iPhone!". When in reality, they should have just held onto their iPhone 13s.
Wait. You upgraded some phones because your priority of phone functionality was Siri?

For me I wouldn’t upgrade any phone from any manufacturer for promise of better voice assistant. But that’s me.
