BTW, for anyone who has trouble with syncing issues, Apple support has an iChat service for MobileMe. I had trouble syncing my contact information when MM first started; a couple sessions with them fixed it and I've had no problems since.
Could you provide any details on how to get started with this iChat service?

A happy camper here: my updates/changes in iCal immediately show up on my iPhone and my iMac. Finally! Could NOT be happier.

That's not push. That's simply a faster syncing.

By the definition of push the server (me.com) sends the changed data to the clients. The clients don't have to ask the server if the data was changed at all.

So if it was push me.com would send all changed data to the connected clients (other macs, iphones, etc). In current me.com the clients still first have to connect to the server and check if something was changed. In a real push service the server contacts the clients immediately after data has been changed.

I really hope Apple opens up the push technology to others, like Google. I am very unhappy with MobileMe and I am only using it for push syncing.

What I fear is that Apple relizes this and is trying to lock us into MobileMe.

If you have issues with iCal syncing then you should read this article:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1213

Apple told me to delete all calendar subscriptions even the birthday calendar from Adressbook, because they are causing problems with syncing to MobileMe.
Now, syncing is also instant for iCal on my Mac!

Yes, that's why I have not used MobileMe for anything but Mail. However, hasn't this now been addressed? Can I still not use MobileMe to get our (my wife's and mine) subscribed calendars? I don't dare try this yet as all of my 2 years of calendars disappeared from my Mac last summer when I tried to sync.

Has anyone tried this yet? Also, are contacts actually now working in MobileMe?

Use Nuevasync for calendars

Okay, so now that this is working, and now that Google has published a tool to actively sync Gcal with iCal, can we get apple to support syncing synced Gcal calendars via MM to the iPhone?

I only use MobileMe's syncing to sync contacts to my iPhone

For calendars, I put everything in shared Google Calendars and use CalDAV to sync them to iCal (either subscribe manually, or use the free tool that you mentioned to set it up). I don't use any local iCal calendars or MobileMe calendars. There's really no need!

Using the free nuevasync.com service, I can sync my Google calendars with my iPhone. It's works flawlessly, and it's about as fast as you could conceive it to be - I can change a Google calendar via Thunderbird at work (yet another system in the mix), and by the time my hands have left the PC's keyboard and picked up my iPhone, it's synced to the iPhone's calendar.

Have you tried resetting the mobile servers? Make sure your ical stuff is correct on your mac and then go into the advanced syncing prefs in the MobileMe pref pane. You can have it copy over all the stuff on the server using your Mac's calendar, mail, etc. Then they will be identical. Then I guess you could see if things improve from there. Just be sure you sync in the proper direction! You wouldn't want to sync the other way because you would overwrite all of your stuff on your Mac with the info from the mobileme server.

Problem with this is that the data I want is on MobileMe and I have nothing on the new MBP. I have tried resetting local based on the cloud, nothing.

I just want them to fix the smart card issue, does Apple not care about the government employees?

Now if they just released custom ringtone support with Mobile Me.
:(

I can't believe there's still a custom ringtone field on my iPhone.
What is this? A never ending tease?

Apparently not. My custom tones are now sticking. Anyone else?
