If Apple really loved music, they would also clean up all the mess in Apple Music and iTunes Music Store, where artists and albums by artists that don't belong together, are displayed is if it was the same artist. It would also be nice if they displayed the original release date (or at least year) for older releases, not only the date they were added to their database.

I ONLY use iTunes for syncing and backing up. Period! Can I backup and extract/restore individual data files from iOS apps directly via the new finder version? Can I continue to rearrange springboard screens like I can do in iTunes now? Also sync iOS apps from multiple iTunes stores/accounts to a single device. Seems like a good opportunity for Apple to open up the sync api to 3rd parties.

How will homesharing work? I have my own music and movies ripped to iTunes to play on my apple tv's. You need to have iTunes open for the Apple TV's to see the library. Does this mean I would need to have both Music and TV open to do the same?

For the record, What is the version of the music app? it is 1.0? or its continue to 13?

just wondering what this means to some Windows users that use iTunes? I don't have Windows machines any longer but several of my friends do and they use iTunes to communicate with their iPhones.

My understanding is no changes to iTunes for Windows, will see what happens if they ever decide to bring Apple TV + app to Windows (like they are to televisions and 3rd party boxes like Roku and Fire Stick). Looks like somebody beat me to the punch in responding....

From what I can tell, the "Internet Radio" function is also missing. I used it just about everyday and am really disappointed. Anyone have any info on this?

Yes, and you can still burn playlists to discs.

Music is basically iTunes with all the other stuff torn out - it even has the modal preferences window!

Where are the music videos? In this app or in the TV app?

And is genius back? Any sign of it? :)

From what I can see and tell, the music app is the CURRENT iTunes with all the things that are NOT related to music ripped out. So yes, your playlists will work, album art, volumes music match, etc....

The one thing not covered is the specific cross item of music videos. I have a bunch of my OWN Music videos (captured streams of live shows) that are tagged as music videos. Where do they live and play after this? Will iTunes still have a video media player of some kind?

Almost there Apple. Next thing on the to do list is to rename Apple Music to Apple Music+ and just have the store front as Apple Music. But ultimately I’d like to see the iTunes brand completely gone and away with 100% eventually.

Also, I don’t think this has been mentioned yet, but what happens to iTunes U?

I hope this doesn’t kill Apple’s Remote app on iOS as a way to control playback from a ripped music library. I use it to control a headless music server, and doing it any other way would be a pain.

No I don’t think it affects the remote app at all, other than an obvious name change coming soon. I mean they just redesigned it, app icon and all, to match Apple’s current iOS design language.

I still see no actual advantage to any of this, other than to calm the complaints of people who have moaned about it for years. I do see disadvantages.

"Audiobooks that you purchased from iTunes will now be in the updated Apple Books app."

And the Audiobooks you haven't purchased from iTunes? Where do they go?
You can currently import ebooks and pdf acquired outside the books app. I’m sure audiobooks should work the same.

Apple Music has music videos some films as well as documentaries. I’m sure it will have video capability
