I don't see the iPhone being talked about at all at WWDC. It's been out for a year and it's been losing it's "sizzle."

iPhone supplies are low and carriers abroad are even offering discounts on the iPhones.

All signs point to the unpopularity of the iPhone and Apple picking itself up from an unsuccessful business venture and moving on to something else.

;)

Yeah, I hope this is a joke too. I am no iPhone junkie, but I don't even believe that the sizzle is gone just yet. Personally I think the sizzle is starting right about now, with the competition catching up (sans Palm which should just quit) and the iPhone's once "special" features reaching even the simpliest of phones.

The SDK is nice, but many are waiting to see some real results. There is always a lot of talk in the tech world, but those still sitting on the fence after almost 2 years don't want talk, we want a faster and more versatile phone. If we have to fork over the cash, or leave our networks for another, we want to make sure it's for good reason, and not just a flashy toy with an Apple engraved on the back.

I do hope the WWDC shows off some finished or beta software for the iPhone and iTAS, and I really want to see iWork Mobile, which should have come with the phone from the start. Add 3G and I can live without insurance, which is available for every other carrier except AT&T, and move over to the iPhone.

i hope they talk about leopard and fixing it. you remember leopard, that OS that runs on your computers apple? instead it will all be iphone specific. why make computers anymore right?

They still make regular updates for Leopard, about as regular as Tiger had...

I'd like to come to WWDC, but I'm broke. :(

I remember when MacRumors & AppleInsider had stories about the invitations or whatever to WWDC, the invitation had a picture of San Francisco w/ 2 Golden Gate bridges w/ something about having 2 landmarks this year: 1 more iPhone 1 for Macs. iPhone landmark is obvious: the SDK. For Mac, not sure. I'm guessing either Mac OS X 10.6 or maybe even 11, or redesigned enclosures for all Macs. Dare I say, maybe even a minitower headless Mac? I don't know. We'll just have to wait & see. You know how secretive Apple is.

If they do announce a new version of the Mac OS, If they announce a new version of the Mac OS, don't know whether they'll drop PowerPC support. On the one hand, Power Mac G5s are a lot more powerful than the first Intel Macs (especially the Mac Mini). Yet, it would be a lot easier to develop software for just one platform. That way, we'd see new versions of the Mac OS quicker and/or more features added. Plus, that way, Apple could make you get a new computer if you want the new version of the OS. Sucks, but hey, that's business. I really don't know what will happen. We'll just have to see.

I thought they did say Leopard was the last version that would support PowerPC. Could be wrong, but I swear I read it somewhere (too lazy to search through threads right now).

except that tiger worked. this is the first os update since 8.0 that i have had just nothing but issues with. and i feel like its all back-burner to the iphone. i wish they would quit dicking around and spend sometime on it and get it fixed. all the half-a$$ed updates that skirt the issue.

if 10.5.3 doesn't rectify then back to tiger i go. it'd be a shame as leopards features are great, but it does nothing for me if nothing else works.

Are you running 3rd party apps? I will admit that 10.5.1 was horrible, and even Apple's own ProApps were prone to crashing, freezing, and an asortment of other issues. From Aperture to Final Cut Pro, problems. They fixed much of that with 10.5.2 though.

I predict Blu-Ray on the iPhone, plus new iPhone eSata connector, and nothing, absolutely nothing else for any other mac product.

Except maybe an iPhone Mini-Tower, a kind of xPhone if you will. It'll be the size of a shoebox and expandable with extra SDHC cards and the idea is you can sit on it, or put it in the boot of your car, or stand on it to make yourself even taller.

Yup, that's it.

:apple::D LOL!!!!!!

Well... Why wouldn't he? The software development kit for the iPhone will be released shortly after the Worldwide Developers Conference.

It shouldn't solely be the iPhone.... but I have a feeling that it will be all iPhone.

The only news about the iPhone I really want to hear is the addition of a faster (at Sprint EVDO speed) 3G version. And iWork Mobile and other apps. Maybe a preview of the iTunes App Store.

The rest of the conference should be about ALL of the Apple products, current and future.

Again, developers go primarily for the tracks, not the keynote, and last I checked the Mac OS X track is still there, the keynote should focus on their plans to build out their 2nd major platform which is the iPhone and iPod touch.

I'm sure they'll have it eventually. Before Leopard came out they had sessions on preparing your apps for resolution independence, but now there's nothing. I hope they have something about it soon, or at least announce why it's taking them so long to add it.

It's sort of half there already. A bit patchy in its implementation,
though. If you run Quartz Debug and then hit command-U, you
can change the virtual resolution. Apps need to be restarted to
get the effect. Then you can see something like this:

Picture 5.png

What you see there is the Firefox window and the Quartz Debug
resolution window below it (the QD window is the old size because
QD hasn't been restarted). Even in this half-implemented state
you can see RI is going to be gorgeous if it ever does get finished.
Imagine this coupled with 300ppi displays. A graphic artist's dream :)

If you click on that image (the forum in-thread view is reduced),
you're not seeing a resized screenshot - it's the pixel-correct size.
You'll notice also that the FF navigation buttons haven't scaled well.
RI depends on 3rd party developers as well as Apple. Mozilla need
to supply scalable buttons.
