Gives a different perspective and context to the phrase - “The dog ate my homework”.No thanks. My dog will rip that to shreds.
I think the person you cited would like one device that is good at being iPhone and one that is good at being iPad, instead of having one that tries to be both and is not so good at either. What is there not to understand? If you want an ipad and iphone in one device, buy it. If you don't, don't.
Sometimes I wonder how many times this story has been recycled and this comment as well.Foldable displays just seem like a complete gimmick to me. My iPad fits in my bag fine. Other than saving space, what are the actual benefits of a foldable device?
And probably this thing will be like $2500 when it first comes out.So who wants to buy the first gen iteration?
Ditto.Foldable displays just seem like a complete gimmick to me. My iPad fits in my bag fine. Other than saving space, what are the actual benefits of a foldable device?
$$$$$$$Foldable displays just seem like a complete gimmick to me. My iPad fits in my bag fine. Other than saving space, what are the actual benefits of a foldable device?
Foldables won’t catch on until Apple shows the world how it’s done.If foldables catch on, Apple needs to be prepared to enter the market. They can't afford to sit on the sidelines like they did when bigger screened Android devices were coming out. Fortunately for Apple, I don't think foldables are catching on.
That's selection bias, because you didn't have the alternative.Foldable displays just seem like a complete gimmick to me. My iPad fits in my bag fine. Other than saving space, what are the actual benefits of a foldable device?
Double folding could be an interesting iPhone, if done rightHaving the ability to pocket a much larger display has clear advantages. Existing folding phones haven't gotten it right because they just double the device thickness.
Groundswell? iPads sell more than ANY macOS device now, 2 to 3 times or more depending on the year. They sell more iPads in a year than Dell sells of their entire laptop line. It would be a quite unnoticeable “groundswell”.I’d rather have them work on a more realistic solution by allowing those with M1 iPads to dual boot MacOS and use it as a desktop. I think there would be more groundswell for this and the road to achieving this is very close.![]()
It turns into a stadium seat when your finished using it!It just looks like one big point of wear-and-tear failure for me.
Don't worry, when Apple do come out with a foldable display, naysayers like yourself will be posting about how innovative Apple are, and how Apple created the foldable screen market!Foldable displays just seem like a complete gimmick to me. My iPad fits in my bag fine. Other than saving space, what are the actual benefits of a foldable device?
I’ll have to agree here. Like a solution looking for a problem.Foldable displays just seem like a complete gimmick to me. My iPad fits in my bag fine. Other than saving space, what are the actual benefits of a foldable device?
I can agree with that.Foldables won’t catch on until Apple shows the world how it’s done.
This rumor, mixed with the other rumor of iPadOS changing to macOS…. mouth watering. I hope this happens!Young believes these devices could form a whole new product category for Apple and result in a dual-use product, potentially able to work as a notebook with a full-size on-screen keyboard when folded and as a monitor when unfolded and used with an external keyboard.
Double folding could be an interesting iPhone, if done right
Multiple folding could be an interesting iPad, if not too thick
