The only problem with "RealityOS" is that, in real use, you know it will be shortened to "ROS" or "rOS," both pronounced the same. The problem, you ask? Well, there are many scientists around the world that work on reactive oxygen species, "ROS!"
The reason why Apple is using xrOS for eXtended Reality Operating System as it can use either or both AR/VR. If it named it “erOS” it would be named after the God of Love which would not be Apple targeted to this product unless one considers certain markets 😜
I can just see it now virtual dates or hangouts on dating apps and other group meets. Apple has been focusing on more sharing with watching movies, tv and songs via iMessage and FaceTime along with sorts.
Worse, I think this headset and the supporting OS will distract apple engineering resource from Macs, iPads and iphone (e.g. SE4 cancellation). Expectations are being set for a year of disappointing updates.
It just might be the dumbest corporate bet since Meta got into VR...
A Mac, yes. Exactly how, I'm not sure. So, it seems like you'll be able to use it as a multi-super-large-screen setup for a Mac using your own keyboard and mouse, but wireless streaming of the display? or will there be an option for a faster wired connection (and do we want that?). Remains to be seen.
This is one of the reasons I would to try one of these. If comfortable enough and light enough, having a couple high-resolution displays to work on without and stands or taking up desk space is pretty appealing.
