I just know how it works in my county. All emergency calls arrive at a central location where a few people are present at all times. If all lines are used, that could in theory mean that in a real emergency someone might have to wait seconds or minutes to get someone to talk to.

I just don’t see that happening

Maybe a few calls come in from a watch, or where they probably get more is home alarm systems, but I don’t see it causing a issue with the reaction time of services

That being said expecting the police to be your salvation is very silly

EMS and fire is not silly, but is optimistic

Self rescue is the correct answer
