PCalc is a real calculator, it can do a lot more than adding two numbers.
There's also another widget app called 'wdgts' it also have a notification center calculator widget app and the app is free.

can I ask why ? OSX has an app draw , has that ruined the operating system ? Hell no, it allows people to organise there applications better.Putting widgets on the home screen and shoving apps in a drawer would be an unforgivable change.
Yup, certainly some free alternatives that are still available (at least for now). There's also another widget app called 'wdgts' it also have a notification center calculator widget app and the app is free.
Not for $10 I don't... 99 cents you might have had a sale... especially if it works for iPad, $10 I'd rather just use the included app or count my fingers and toes.
people jumping ship. lol i have like 20 widgets on my phone. this is ONE widget. yes they clearly have strict rules. NO your widget is not a glorified notification because I am using them and they are wayyyyyy closer to widgets than notifications. They are all glimpses of the app; some are going to far in apples mind and putting the entire app on the notification center/which in terms of a calculator is extremely hard not to do being that the entire app is the calculator which is what the widget would be too---maybe if pCalc submitted back an abrv. calculator widget that was half functional they'd be allowed back. My point is theres no need for the mass-freak out like they are ruining Apple widgets. For one they've been around publicly for what 2 months? Lol and secondly there are plenty out there that are plenty awesome...sports centers widget is sick, all the news widgets are cool, wunderlist has a great one, i hear evernotes is very useful. So while I may be searching in the drawer for where my Apple Widget life-vest MAY be; I'm still on the complete opposite end of the spectrum than jumping ship![]()
First, they disallowed launcher because of the ability to open an app, make text pr calls from the NC conveniently. Then, this. What's next rejecting a widget that uses location like "quickgets-geo", monitoring system status(Network status, RAM, CPU, and storage).
Sure, giving people options is ruining an OS.
Amazing what fanboys say.
Thanks for the heads up on the Quickgets-geo app... going to download it. Never saw it in the Widgets Apps section. I had assumed that was an all-encompassing list of apps with widgets. Now i'll have to do more searching.

No involved in you guy's little... discussion.... but... do you call everyone with an opinion different from your own a fanboy?
Nope, just folks on an Apple forum who 99.9% of the time call something Apple doesn't currently include trash; or how it is horrible or useless - until Apple includes it and then they call it revolutionary and amazing.
If you have PCalc, you're probably not using Calculator app.I don't get it.
What, does it compete with the built-in calculator app? Duplicate functionality?

I love my iPads. I've purchased 6 of them since they came on the market. I've never seen the value in iPhones. The way I use my phone, the Galaxy S4 is perfect for me. Android has really cool widgets and if the version on the iPad is any indication, Swype on Android is far superior to how it is implemented on iOS. Android does app widgets 1000x better than iOs.
I am prepared for you spikes, slings, and arrows. I forgive you.

"Apple's App Extension guidelines do clearly state that Notification Center widgets should have a "simple, streamlined UI," a limited number of interactive items, and specifies that a widget is "not a mini version" of an app"
In other words, they want the Notification Center to be useless - to look pretty but do nothing helpful.
What is it that is so difficult about pressing on an app icon to open it, that makes users excited about swiping down to find it instead?
Is it an android thing?
