I’m quite happy with my old SuperDrive. Great for downloading the music CDs I buy - especially the ones NOT in iTunes.
Is there a replacement or is this just to force us to use their online whatevers???

I purchased a SuperDrive early in the year. I only use it for ripping CD's. I was rather surprised that is still had a USB A plug on it, now I know why. It is interesting to note that it was recognized as a Yamaha drive. I purchase albums unavailable on the Apple Music. I can almost always find what I am looking for on Discogs, or it will tell me the reason why it is not available.

I am betting a new and upgraded superdrive. I don't think I'll put any actual money on it, though.
I doubt it - not when Apple can force us holdouts into using iTunes or whatever where you no longer own the music you “buy” and can only play with their devices. I’ll be playing CDs till they wear out! And LPs forever!!

I have two pairs of Powerbeats and I've owned a few more over the years - they are great for working out, good sound quality with some basic Siri interaction and they stand up to moisture and sweat well. However, the charging case was an abysmal failure. About 50% of the time, on any of the many pairs I've had, one of the earphones will not be charged due to poor contact with the case. There's no light or indication of poor contact, because as long as one makes contact the red charging light comes on. So, you either work out with one or you wait 5-10 minutes to get enough power to go ahead. Also, about 50% of the time when you put them on, only one will chime and connect to your device, which requires you insert them back in the case for 5 seconds, then try again until both connect and chime in stereo. It's the most aggravating thing considering the price I paid. And its not one pair, they all behave identically, so I know other people have experienced these issues.

We bought the first sony discman for my brother. The one tnat was so sensitive to bumps that portability was a joke. We ultimately just used it as a CD player hooked up to the stereo because it was the only CD player we owned anyway.
I remember this, it wasn't a problem isolated to Sony but the Sony model was bad. It was an easy fix to just add a read-ahead buffer so the music could continually play while the friggin laser beam figures it out.

You do realize that it’s just an external CD drive. You don’t need to buy the Apple branded one. You can get one for $20 or less on Amazon. If you want one get it soon because it’s already outdated technology so it’s going to get harder to find a quality one. For example it’s impossible to find a quality audio cassette player that’s new. To my knowledge, there’s only one cassette player assembly made and it’s cheap junk.

I always will laugh when I saw all the fine woven cases with scratches and marks on display in my local Apple Store. Glad they wised up to that mistake and pulled the plug on production.

Haven't checked other countries but for US and Canadian sites, it also appears that the 30-pin dock cable might be going away as well. RIP, you served us well.

My mini got the leather case before Apple stopped to sell them both. May they both have a long life. I love them both!

But I hear other mini users don't die to upgrade to the 16 or the 16 pro. So eventially, maybe, maybe, much later...

I ended up purchasing a few leather cases out of China direct for my 13 mini

Honestly, not sure if they are knock off or not, but they worked fabulously, including with all my MagSafe, so I’m happy.

Just bring back the leather offerings. I bought a 3rd party leather case, amazing. But I did enjoy the Apple leather cases I had in the past.

I still have one of those early external webcams Apple offered. ;-).
Same as my old SuperDrive, which I haven‘t used in ages (despite some elder relatives sometimes gifting me Audio CDs for Christmas).
Things change and your former tech turns into the same kind of old dead media as your Zip drives and Syquest drives.

Except for the very old, very non-digital stufff, which strangely enough is becoming more expensive and still finds use. Old hifi, watches, toting tools especially. Because they all still work beautifully and they ARE still beautiful. Which says a lot about our digital culture.

Surprised that SuperDrive was available for sale till now. Don't think it is coming back.

I found a heavily discounted FineWoven case for my 15 Pro, bought it out of curiosity to see how truly terrible it is. After 2 days use there was already a circle on the back from charging it via magsafe that doesn’t seem to go away, and after 2 weeks the edge of the fabric where it meets the sides is a slightly darker colour than the rest of the back.
Yeah they were shockingly bad cases where it was clear very little testing was done on durability before releasing to market. The fact they were charging £59 for them arrogantly knowing people would buy them because they are Apple was really poor. Someone I know is using one and when I saw it at the 6 month mark, it was fraying on the edges!

And the mental gymnastics on reddit and on this forum that people went through to justify their purchase or pretend they were good was comical. Will forever be remembered for me.
How did it pass testing though? I’m sure someone got fired over it right ?
