With the launch of the new M3 14-inch MacBook Pro, Apple has discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is no longer listed for sale through Apple's store, with the MacBook Pro section offering only 14-inch and 16-inch models.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro was the last Mac with a Touch Bar, so the sunsetting of the 13-inch MacBook Pro also means that the Touch Bar has been officially discontinued.

Apple's 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro was priced at $1,299, making it $100 more expensive than the very similar 13-inch MacBook Air.

Pricing on the new M3 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,599, which means the M2 MacBook Air is the only option for those looking for a more affordable notebook at the current time.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro will still be available from Apple's refurbished store and from retailers until supplies run out.

Some people will miss this model… I genuinely liked the design. And the touch bar isn’t that bad… they never put their hearts into it.

It was also a relatively cheap way to get great processing power on the move…

As one of the few people who actually liked the Touch Bar (when I had a Mac that had one), I'm kind of sad it's gone now. It was a cool feature that brought that little bit of 'touch magic' to the Mac. It wasn't always needed, but I always thought it was nice to have as an option. Just kind of wish more apps took advantage of it, had a lot of potential.

When I bought my M1 13 inch MBP back in November 2020, I was giddy to get on Apple Silicon and part of too was I never owned a touch bar model, so I jumped on it. It's been working well since and I can't justify upgrading since because it does all I need. Apple makes really great computers that last long, even in the Intel era. If you noticed throughout the presentation a lot of the comparison was against Intel Macs. Even they know it's a hard sell to get many to upgrade from Apple silicon models. But apparently there is still a lot of Intel models out there.

I would not be surprised if macOS 15 drops support for all Intel models to nudge everyone still on the fence.
