Following its "Far out" event yesterday, Apple has discontinued the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock.

The dock, which retailed for $79, included a circular base and allowed Apple Watch users to charge their Apple Watch in either a flat position or on its side to be used as an alarm clock. The dock was launched following the release of the first Apple Watch in 2015. For customers looking for a similar experience, Apple offers the MagSafe Duo Charger, which can charge both an Apple Watch and an iPhone with MagSafe at the same time.

Wow, this is an essential part of the whole Apple Watch experience for us. I am surprised to see it discontinued.

Could argue that this charger should be included with each watch purchase.

This was always a nice product. If I recall correctly, it didn't launch when the original watch did, but sometime later that year? And I remember when the rumour first showed up on MR, maybe the packaging or something, and so many didn't think it was real.

Love mine by the side of the bed, like the way it forms a small clock in night mode and appreciate how it keeps the Milanese Loop from rubbing against the back of Watch itself when its off my wrist.

Picked mine up second hand, nearly new. Over priced for what it is/was new, but a great dock nonetheless. Will be keeping mine for a few years to come yet.

I didn't even know this was available - may look around on the used market for one.....

This is a shame. I love mine and would certainly want another if it ever died or got scratched up.

MagSafe Duo is a bad option for me (I have one at my desk) since I don’t want my phone near my bed, which where my watch charger is.

Im assuming its because it doesn't work with the larger watch now.
But then wouldn’t MagSafe Duo need to be discontinued too? They have essentially the same charging puck. Abe in the “down” position should be able to charge even a giant watch (or the new AirPods Pro).

these are great, but the thinking seems use the multi device charger Apple has or perhaps they'll finally figure out AirPower

I have too many devices on my nightstand for this. I need something for my phone, watch, airpods, ipad, and second (old) ipad I use as my alarm clock

why not consolidate to your iPhone as an alarm clock?

Once they came out with the regular Apple Watch charger, I didn't get the point of this big UFO-like charger, especially its price. It's over priced. With the regular non-UFO charger, you can have the watch standing up like a clock or laying flat.

So now that AirPods could charged by this Apple remove it cause that freak Ultra doesn’t work with it. I really love how this company reminds me Microsoft in the beginning of the century!

I think it came out whenever apple added the nightstand feature
