Apple really needs to give us a black or dark gray color option! I like the dark color of my 1st gen iPad mini, and the iPhone 5, but my main device is iPhone 6 in space too light gray. :/

With the launch of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, Apple has dropped the prices on the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s by $100. The iPhone 6 now starts at $549 for the 16GB model, while the iPhone 6s starts at $649. The two iPhones are also no longer sold in 128GB capacities

don't you mean "6 plus"?

You overlooked one possibility, which I think is the biggest reason for this change; to simplify inventory. Number of SKUS, especially now that we have two sizes in both the standard and low cost options. Dropping a color reduces the number of models they need to maintain by 4. That's why the also dropped the 128gb option.

Obviously it will also help sell more 6s's, andn Apple may be happy about that too, but I don't think that was the primary motive.

Too many SKUs? When theres literally so many apple watch configuration SKUs I am sure they can't possibly be having an issue of managing too many iPhone SKUs..

To me that rose gold looks like rose gold. It's not called "lime gold" for a reason.

I'm inclined to agree. Whether it's intended to boost sales of the new phone, to decrease production costs or something else altogether it's all motivated by one thing: increasing profit. Nobody takes fiduciary duty to shareholders more seriously than Apple.

The rose gold iPhone is easily one of, if not the most, hideous thing I've ever seen Apple release. Can't decide if it's the color alone or the white antenna bands that ruin it for me. It does appear that the original gold color option has gotten more yellow in hue, which would have looked great with a black bezel.

So is gold colour anodization actually more complicated or expensive than other colours? Or is this purely an up-selling strategy rather than a technical issue?
It's actually quite simple. People don't call us the isheep for nothing. Basically it comes down to the fact that Apple realizes that it is a trendsetter so whatever Apple tells us is cool, we will oblige. For instance when the iPhone 5 came out, the black iPhone 5 presented itself more as the more popular color. When the 5s came out of coarse, it presented us with a gold iPhone 5s along with the new iOS 7 with of course looked better on the white iPhones. Apple did the same crap with the iPhone 6 last year by having mostly dark wallpapers in iOS 8 to better cater to the space grey iPhone 6. And now you guessed it ! Now in the new iPhone 6s there is the new rose gold color along with iOS 9 wallpaper better catering the white iPhone 6s. Along with the cancellation of the gold variant of the iPhone 6, it appears that once again Apple is having us believe that the white iPhone is once again better than the black iPhone. Ridiculous huh?
