Frye's has Powerbeats 3 on sale for only $99 ($100 off regular pice of $199). You have to add it to your cart before discount shows. It's a one day sale for 11/18/2017.

I've now got an iPhone that doesn't have a headphone jack so I'm in the market for wireless headphones, mostly targeted for the gym. I tried the Solo3 on at the Apple Store and they feel like they won't stay on when lifting heavy weights on a bench, etc. I thought based on what people have said, it squeezed their head and caused headaches. It certainly didn't feel that way. I might go for the Powerbeats3. Any thoughts from weightlifters?

I've tried three different ones. The AirPods and the Beats didn't stay in with rigorous movement but the Powerbeats 3 did. It has the chip like the others so it works very well with Apple devices.

The beatsx have been excellent for me. Especially the easy switching between devices with the w1 chip.

How exactly is it easier? I have the beats x, I generally enjoy them and the battery life but honestly not seeing a night and day difference with the W1 chip as far as switching between devices.

Do I need to hold down the power button before switching?

I'm interested in the BeatsX, but only if they don't sound like beats, aka, flubby muffled garbage.

The beats signature sound was updated from the subwoofer sound ever since they were bought by apple.

The Beats X sound umm balanced compared to the original beats when they first came out but check out the reviews on youtube.

PS: BOTH have W1 chip, Fast Charge and 40hr battery life (non ANC).
NOTE: Solo3's CAN be used with no power/charge as wired headphones, the Studio's canNOT! Further Fast Charge on Solo is 10mins for 3hrs battery life, Studio is 15mins for 3hrs.

1 key difference is the studio's are over the ear while the solo's are on the ear. Depending on your usage and or size of head the studio's could be a better option.

Nope. None of the power button repairing hassle. Once you’ve turned it on, you can simply connect to the beats x from the control center if your current device isn’t the one it automatically connected to, as long as they’re all connected to the same iCloud account. On the Mac you can do it from the menu bar volume controls. I can’t see myself ever going back to other Bluetooth headsets unless it has the w1 chip because of this feature.

Are the BeatsX fully returnable? I want to give them a try, but if they're not better than my $25 amazon ones, I would want to give them right back.

How is this possible? They’ve barely been out a year
Ok, well powerbeats 2. Not sure what they've changed in the new ones

Well, to me they sounded better.

All 3 models are not very good? Have you used all 3? I personally like my Beats X though I wouldn't pay full price for them. Which I didn't.
I had the beats 2, for the price they were not worth it ($199) when comparing to my $25 J&L wireless headphones I got from amazon. Maybe they've made strides with the beats 3

I think if you’re an iPhone the user you’d have more of a reason to buy these regardless of the sound to which they at least sound “good.

They charge using a lightning connector and the the W1 chip which allows easy connection swapping between Apple devices.

Is there a visual toggle in the control center specifically for audio source switching?

Only place I see a way to do it is in the music module.

I would've gotten the Solo3 headphones if they weren't so uncomfortable for me. I wonder if the Solo4 is coming after the holidays (maybe they're delayed like the HomePod)?

The music module it is. If you are on iOS 11 simply tap on the radio wave like icon on the top right of the music module and then select your beats. If it's blue and pulsing then its connected already. Alternatively, you an also 3D Touch on the music module and tap the airplay icon. On iOS 10 I believe you can tap on the "now playing on" on the bottom of the music pane.

So I went to Apple Store to try and/or buy the BeatsX. First, the guy had no idea they were on sale. I had to show him in the Apple Store app. Second, I didn't like the sound AT ALL. My $25 TaoTronics headphones from Amazon sounded much better. I ended up walking out with AirPods. :D Totally not what I was expecting. If I don't like them, I'll return them. My biggest fear is losing one before then.....

Do the AirPods sound exactly like or extremely similar to the wired versions?

MUCH MUCH better. I was shocked at the sound quality. Disclaimer: I've never been the type to own a really expensive set of headphones. I usually max out at about $50, but you can get some good $50 headphones out there. The BeatsX sounded like poor quality $20 headphones (to me). The AirPods blew them away, with much richer sound all around. I've never been a big fan of the standard earbuds (fit or sound), so I really didn't think I would like these.

I've been playing with them since lunch, and watching/listening to a live concert on YouTube from my iPad at my desk, I was able to walk almost all the way to the water cooler on the other side of my office two large rooms away and still keep the connection, which would never happen with my $25 traditional Bluetooth headphones. I think that's the power of the W1 chip that comes in all of these. Switching devices between the iPad and iPhone is pretty simple.

Overall I'm happy so far with them. I haven't tried a phone call yet. Controls are easier if you have an Apple Watch. Not having physical buttons on the headphones is definitely a change in usage, so the Now Playing controls on the watch will help over having to direct through Siri or controlling from your phone.

I went with the beats x mostly because of the W1 chip and quick charge through a lightning cable but you've also brought up another feature that directed me towards the beats X which is physical controls.

I was going to also mention that for my personal taste I just really don't like how the airpods look when in use but if I'm being honest the beats x don't look much better lol.

Yeah my wife told me this morning I look like an idiot with the AirPods. :D. I’m still considering it a trial period, I have until Jan to return because of the holidays. I wouldn’t discourage the BeatsX either, the W1 seems great for multiple devices.
