Apple Discusses M1 iPad Pro in New Interview, Including Lack of XDR Display on 11-Inch Model

Weight? 😂 That is the LAMEST excuse. I don’t believe that for a second. Apple didn’t give the 11” the mini LED because they want more people to buy the more expensive 12.9”.

I am an artist who travels a lot and prefer the 11” size for portability. I guess i will wait until next year to upgrade my 2018 11” ipad pro.

But, but...Apple has spent millions on commercials that insist the iPad is your computer and you don't need anything else. If it's a computer, it needs a computer OS. Else, put iPadOS on the MacBooks and call me a liar!

Obviously one size doesn’t fit all 100%. I’m sure for a segment of the population an iPad with iPadOS is all that is needed in their computing life. What that universe is and the size of that universe I can’t say. But Apple believes there is enough of a universe to justify the sale of the ipad.

Those that measure unit sales of the iPad show that, per quarter, all different versions of the iPad sell more than any other vendor sells of their entire laptop line. A lot of folks, I’d imagine, are getting it as a second or third device. But, even accounting for that, there are people that look at the wide range of choices they have in computing devices/features and choose some form of iPad.

It truly is amazing spin. Only reason I didn't order the new Pro is because I don't want the giant one, but I did want new screen tech. But hinting that they might never include it on the 11" model makes me reconsider my choice to wait another year.

First I've heard of this. And it also has me reconsidering my choice to wait a year on new screen tech in the 11". Maybe this year's model really is the time to upgrade from my 2017 pro.

I just upgraded from my 10.5" 2017... It was the last version of that design, and I feel this 2021 model is the last of the current design. I think this is a good move coz accessories will get cheaper for that design .

I preordered the 12.9 at BestBuy, but on release day I went to the Apple Store to check them out. Glad I did!!! The shadows on the edges of the screen of the 12.9 makes it look like the screen is deeper. I think the mini-LEDs don't go all the way to the edge thats why there is a gradient in the edges. Loom for Brad Colbow on YouTube, and you will see what that issue is.

Cancelled my 12.9" preorder after seeing XDR perform poorly in normal conditions and I upgraded to a M1 11" 512GB available in-store instead... going with the 11", I didn't have to force myself to get a $400 upgrade for 1TB and 16GB ram. Save over $1k... will wait 4-5yrs for another upgrade hehehe.
