Google doesn't hide the fact they show ads. Apple brags about privacy on their platform. Zero transparency on apples part.

Targeted ads are connected to an Advertising ID Number and grouped together with a large number of other Advertising ID Numbers with similar demographics. It's the same method of anonymizing as Apple uses for their targeted ad program.

The grouping and segments can be far more detailed with Google since they have more background data to use for determining interests than Apple has chosen to access. That can change if market conditions and technology do.
