Apparently Apple knows what is and isn't bad for business.

Apple Mac Sales Up 26.2% in Q2, Outpacing Industry's 7.2%

You conveniently forgot to mention that overall market share is still at a paltry 5.6%. Apple has had the best OS on the market for the last three decades and their still not in double digit market share. It's not sacrilege to suggest that they should be doing better.

Apple's 2nd Quarter 2007 U.S. marketshare was up to 5.6% of U.S. shipments. This tied Apple in 3rd place with Gateway for U.S. marketshare for this quarter.

Apple marketshare Q2 2007 = 5.6%
Apple marketshare Q2 2006 = 4.8%
Apple marketshare Q2 2005 = 4.4%

Do the math, smart guy. Their marketshare increased twice as much from '06 to '07 as it did the year previous. Most people would consider that "doing better." And if the iPhone becomes the runaway success it seems headed to becoming, I don't see that trend slowing down in the near future.

No, they don't care about computers anymore. They're dedicating too many resources to drowning small, cute puppies. And the iPhone.

Nah.

No seriously, the rest of us have been waiting and none of us have been complaining.. (Well some)....

But just wait, it will be worth it and if not then you have the right to complain. Also the iMac is a GREAT computer right now.

So you're saying after 30 years of OS dominance Apple has PC makers right where they want them? Ever herd of the term 'fanboy'?

Apples OVERALL share of the computer market was 3.6% around this time last year, which was actually down by .2% from the year before. We could be doing better, that's all I'm saying.

FFS, you know what? I'm sick of you whining bunch of wankers. (Might want to add that one to the naughty word filter)

So it's been almost a year since Apple upgraded the iMac. So? It's obviously selling well, or they'd have done it by now. The saying I was always taught is: If it's not broken, don't fix it.

You'd twine if you bought one and Apple upgraded it inline with everything new that is released by other companies every month because yours would be 'old' and now your moaning like a small girl because it's been a while since they upgraded it.

Apple knows whats best. If Apple want to upgrade it, and Apple find the time is right, then guess what? (ZOMFG!!! You might want to sit down) They'll... (Waitttt....) They'll... Upgrade it!!

Apple are a business. They do things to make money. As long as computers make money, of course they'll still make them. At the moment, it seems as if the iPhone is making money. Am I sick of hearing about it? Yes, but thats only because I can't buy one. Do I understand the workings of business? Yes, yes I do. It aint hard to grasp either.

Until they upgrade the iMac, either buy the current iMac like most other people who want/need a new computer, or, **** and wait nice and quiet. Because I tell you something, no one, least of all Steve Jobs cares in the very slightest if you, one person, just feels Apple are not doing enough to tend to your personal needs.

The moral of the story: You can't please all of the people all of the time, just some of the people... Some of the time.

Uh oh.. fanboy alert.. err.. fanman rather.. :p Just kidding! Or.. Uncle Jobs.. is that you?? LOL! Just kidding, again. I aplogize, can't help but.. :p PEACE!!

I didn't conveniently leave out anything. I made a statement and then left a link to an article with its title. Is that too hard to understand?????

As far as the rest of your comment, you apparently know nothing about business, market share or how/why it got there.

Apple lost the market share war a long time ago. It has nothing to do with when they put out updates either. They lost the market share war years ago when the corporate world gave up typewriters and filing cabinets for a PC. They went with whatever was cheaper. Apple computers were much more expensive back then and the corporate world bought what was cheaper. The long term effect of this, because personal computers would soon be moving into the home, is that most people were accustomed to using a PC at work, so when they bought one for the home, it was a PC. And also, macs were still much more expensive.

Also, because most corporate entities went the PC route, especially the large companies, it is now impossible for them to switch even if they wanted to. It would involve changing everything from hardware all the way down to paying programmers to rewrite custom software for the mac, porting everything over, etc...

Apple knows this. That is why they have turned to the regular consumer. Of course Apple has graphics designers and creative markets that they dominate, but... they more or less focus on the consumer and not the corporate world. Even the iPhone is not being pushed as a corporate business phone, it is for the average consumer.

I don't think we will ever know what the consumer market share is, but I am sure it is much higher than what you think it is.

Apple has been growing their market share. Growth is growth. The fact that Apple has pretty much ruled the education market for years could have the same long term effect that the PC had moving out of the office and into the home. These kids are learning on a Mac! What do you think they are going to buy when they get old enough to purchase a computer? That could have a big swing in market share for Apple. It won't happen overnight, but it could happen.

Also, Apple with their tiny market share is also completely debt free and has more liquid cash sitting in the bank than Dell with it's huge market share. I guess that is bad business though.

Get educated on what you are talking about.

Thats pretty darn good, see how Apple market share was lower then 2% in 2004(I think it was about 1.8%)...thats about a 4% growth in 3 years.

Apple's OS has not been as good as OS X for 30 years. (when you look at what was around).....OS X was a huge step in a new, and great direction.

To say Apple doesn't care about computers is foolsih...

Well, that's market share that's based on sales, not on usage. If a PC lasts for only 18 months but a Mac lasts for 24 months before needing to be replaced, then of coarse there will be more PC sales relative to Mac sales. I think a better measure is the number of people who are using a Mac. Considering that Apple was the third biggest seller this quarter, and that for the past several quarters, more than half of all customers have been switchers, I think Apple is doing quite well. It has a higher market cap. than Dell, and when was the last time you heard someone mention Dell as having the hottest new product?
